HPV IS THE MAIN CAUSE OF CERVICAL CANCER

HPV Vaccine: Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine protects both boys and girls from HPV infection and cancers caused by HPV infection. The vaccine is recommended to be given to all boys and girls at age 11 or 12 years. HPV vaccination is a series of shots given over several months.

The vaccine can be given up to age 26, but it provides better protection against cancer when given at age 11 or 12 years.

HPV is a common virus that is spread through skin to skin contact. Usually it has no symptoms, so people don't know they have it. Most viral infections clear on their own. However, cancer-causing types of HPV can cause cancer in both men and women.
