SC19 Subcommittee on Completion Equipment

Completion Equipment includes: Perforators, Packers & Bridge Plugs, Subsurface Flow Control, Sand Screens, Gas Lift, Barrier Valves, Completion accessories, Liner Hangers

TG on Sand Screen equipment has 1 specification (API 19S1) based on ISO 17824; TG is addressing quality inspection (wire wrap slot inspection) and validation testing (Burst and Collapse) of Wire Wrapped Screen and High Pressure leak off test. The goal is to ballot ISO 17824 for adopt-back as API 19S1 in 1Q14.

TG on Perforating equipment has one RP 19B which has 6 sections covering evaluation of perforators under surface, stress, elevated temperature, simulated downhole, debris evaluation and measurement of gun swell. Work is ongoing on first 5 sections. Key updates are: • creation of a witness data sheet to compare relative performance between

equipment• Ongoing work to create cement targets that better mimic the properties of rock with

respect to porosity and Ultimate Compressive Strength

API 19V1 Sub Surface barrier valves will be published as an adopt back from ISO 28781. Some comments were received which will be addressed using a Regional Annex.

SC19 Subcommittee on Completion Equipment

API 19TT1 is in development to address Downhole Well Test Tools. Scope of document covers valves, gauges, jars, service packers and connections to monitoring conduits. In addition to product specifications, the standard:

• Will contain technical and quality requirements for the service centers• Will address electrical equipment

TG on gas lift equipment has 3 specifications and 10 recommended practices documents. Suite of documents covers equipment and operations: Side Pocket Mandrels, Flow Control Devices, Running Tools and, Design, Operation, Maintenance and SurveillanceKey updates are: • API RP19G9 Design, Operation & Troubleshooting of Dual Gas-lift Wells passed 2nd

ed. Ballot.• Adding prescriptive design calculations and more stringent validation grades for

HPHT equipment

TG on SSFC has 2 specifications and 1 recommended practices document. Suite of documents covers SSSV, Locks and Landing Nipple design and manufacturing and Installation, Operation and Redress of SSSVKey updates are: • API 14A, specification for SSSV is almost ready for ballot by end of 1Q2013. It

contains requirements for HPHT equipment. The industry will have to start informing the supply chain of the differences between API 14A and ISO 10432.

• API RP 14B, Design, Installation, Repair and Operation of Subsurface Safety Valve Systems will start being edited this year. TG is open to participants.

SC19 Subcommittee on Completion Equipment

TG on Packers has started editing API 11D1Key updates are: • The document will be updated via a Regional Annex.• Goal is to add requirements for HPHT equipment.• The scope will exclude Drill Stem Test Tools and DST Packers

TG on Liner Hangers held the first meeting in January 2013. The specification in process will include both conventional and expandable Liner Hangers as well as Tie Back seal stem, second trip packer, plugs, landing collar, and running/setting tools. The document will be written with an awareness of RP 96 (to evaluate which of the equipment may be barriers at some point in their installation)

The standard on Completion Accessories was sent to OGP for use in the interim solution. It is ready for an FDIS ballot in ISO. Once complete, it will be back-adopted by API.
