CHECKING THE NETWORK LINK BETWEEN THE COMPUTER AND THE SBS-1 RECEIVER (ETHERNET MODULE)

Checking your connection with the SBS-1e Ethernet Module Using the command PING: Open the “Command Prompt” window Type “PING 192.168.1.170” and you should receive a reply like this if you connection is running without problems.

Example of Unsuccessful Connection

Default IP Address: IP: 192.168.1.170 Port: 10001 Can be changed using the configuration software

IP Address: IP: Depends of your network

If you are unable to ping the EM from your PC, this is probably because the IP address of the EM (192.168.1.170) is outside the address range being used on your network. To correct this you can either: • Change the IP address of the Ethernet Module:

1) Set your computer IP to 192.168.1.7 for a while. Open your network icon (Control Panel, Network Connections), then Properties, then Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then Properties If Dynamic IP is checked (Automatic IP address or so) uncheck this, enter the IP Address 192.168.1.170 AND the Network Mask 255.255.255.0, then press OK. Close the Properties window. 2) Start your internet browser and enter http://192.168.1.170. This will open the Xport configuration page.

2) Just click “OK” to go forward in step.

3) Go to NETWORK 4) Enter 192.168.2.170 under IP ADDRESS 5) Enter 192.168.2.1 under GATEWAY 6) Press OK

7) Check your PORT is 10001 (CHANNEL 1/CONNECTION/LOCAL PORT)

8) Press the button APPLY SETTINGS

9) Wait for the Xport to reboot (and not return!!) 10) Reset your computer IP (see paragraph 1 above) to 192.168.2.7 (or whatever it was) 11) Start your internet browser and go to http://192.168.2.170 12) If you get the Xport Configuration window everything has worked 13) Run Basestation 14) Enter IP 192.168.2.170 to SETTINGS/HARDWARE/NETWORK 15) Select SETTINGS/DATA SOURCE/USE NETWORK 16) Restart Basestation 17) Voila

• Change your network to use the address range 192.168.1.xxx A) Changing the IP Address Range used by the network is usually quite straightforward, follow the instructions in your router's documentation to set the IP address range starting at 192.168.1.1 and ending at 192.168.1.255. Subnet Mask should be set to 255.255.255.0. CAUTION, if you have any other devices on your network that use fixed or reserved IP addresses, you will need to change these to be in the 192.168.1.xxx address range. B) For more complex networks, where there are more devices with fixed IP addresses, or if you are not comfortable reconfiguring your network, it may be easier to change the IP address of the EM.

• Now just go to your Basestation menu HARDWARE/SETTINGS and setup your software with the

IP Address and Port.

• Go to Settings / Data Source and select “USE NETWORK”

• Restart your Basestation Software to use the new setup.

“Please note the SBS-1e is a static sensitive device please does not handle the antenna when the unit is running”
