World-Wide OpportunitiesCustomize your abroad experience. Spend a summer, a semester or a full academic year overseas studying at world-class institutions, living with host families, and becoming part of an international culture. You’ll work with your professors to define where and why. Students have journeyed to places from Australia to China, from Europe to Russia, from Latin America to to India.

Specifically, Sweet Briar College has three centers with a strong reputa-tion: one in Seville, Spain, and two in France in Nice and Paris. We also have partnerships in cities around the world, including London (Ox-ford), Rome, Athens, Beijing and Kyoto. We have competitive scholar-ships to help you on your way, too.

A Flourishing Campus LifeCampus life at an all women’s col-lege is an important question. All women means a level of friendship that you don’t have at other colleges. There’s a bond and a network of cur-rent students and alumnae. There’s a strong sense of tradition and a world of things to do right outside your door from rock climbing to formals to concerts to horseback riding - about 50 student led organizations are involved in calendar planning. You don’t have to abandon the city altogether. Lynchburg is about 100,000 people and 15 minutes from campus. Also, Washington D.C. is just a short train ride away.

Also, with three colleges in Lynch-burg, Hampden-Sydney nearby and UVA about an hour away, there are plenty of opportunities to meet guys. There are social events on and off campus and plenty of time to make it to a football game if you want to. Alexandra Groban ’12 says, “If you want to have guys in your life during your four years at Sweet Briar, it’s very easy to make that happen.”

Open Spaces To LearnEducation at Sweet Briar is person-alized. It’s about your discovery of new interests in an environ-ment that offers highly accessible professors. There are more than 40 programs of study with the flex-ibility to form your own major. And there’s plenty of guidance. Our advising team includes faculty, staff and alumnae. Research is part of the experience here and professors work alongside you to discover new insights.

The Ways You Can GoThe paths that Sweet Briar gradu-ates choose are diverse. Kat Alex-ander ’11 is a Fulbright Scholar in Turkey, Corey Latta ’11 is a teaching artist at the Lexington Children’s Theatre, Melaina Macone ’11 is a group manager for Anheuser Busch, Victoria Trudeau ’11 is studying at the University of Chicago, Em-ily Davies ’11 is a marine science technician with the United States Coast Guard. Teacher, doctor, artist, businesswoman, engineer, scientist, lawyer... whatever you choose you’ll have the confidence and the knowl-edge to pursue it.
