ChardonSchools,ChardonOhioChardonSchools,alongwithneighboringschool,OrangeCitySchools,co-hostedaYouthSummitduringSaySomethingWeek.Theyinvitedmiddleandhighschoolstudentsfromtheirtwoschooldistricts,alongwithstudentsfromfourotherlocalschoolstoparticipate.Duringthishalf-dayevent,studentsparticipatedintheSaySomethingpresentation.FollowingtheSaySomethingpresentation,thestudentsbrokeintosmallerworkgroupsaccordingtotheirschool.Intheworkgroups,studentsbrainstormedhowtheywouldtakeSaySomethingbacktotheirschools.Attheendofthebreakoutsessions,studentssharedtheirideaswitheachother.TheChardonSchoolsteamcontinuedtocometogetheraftertheYouthSummitanddevelopedatimelineforimplementationinboththemiddleandhighschool.Thestudentsdecidedtobegincreatinga"buzz"aboutSaySomethingbycreatingavarietyofvideosthatweresharedonline,inclassesandatschoolevents.ThreemonthsaftertheYouthSummit,theChardonSchoolsteamdeliveredtheSaySomethingpresentationatanallschoolassemblysoallstudentsattheirschoolcouldlearnaboutSaySomething.TheteamalsohasidentifiedkeythemestheywanttopromotemonthlyasapartofSaySomething.Theseincludementalhealthawareness,suicideprevention,substanceabuse,gunviolence,andbullying.TheChardonstudentgroupshavecontinuedtomeettogetheronceamonthsinceSaySomethingWeektoorganizemonthlyawarenessbuildingeventsaroundSaySomething.
