    Medical camps conducted by the branch.

    The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) Colombo Branch organizedand conducted medical camps on the 14thof September 2014 at thebranch premises and on the 06th, 07thand the 09thof October 2014

    at the Puranawardenaramaya, Malapalla and Purana Viharayatemples.

    A total number of 181 patients were tested for diabetes, heartdiseases and other Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD). Thesepatients were also educated on the prevention of NCDs.

    The main objective of this medical camp was to provide freemedical assistance for the less privileged communities of theseareas.

    irst Aid awareness for three wheel drivers

    rst aid is the immediate care given to a person who has been

    jured or has been suddenly ill. It includes both self-help and home

    are if medical assistance is not available or delayed. First aid

    nowledge not only means the difference between life and death,ut also helps to determine the importance of first aid treatment

    uring an emergency situation.

    rst aid knowledge and skills promote safety awareness at home,

    ork and on the streets, through studying first aid a person should

    e prepared to assist others during emergency situations.

    he SLRCS Colombo Branch conducted first aid awareness

    rogrammes for three wheel drivers with the assistance of the

    ottawa and the Maharagama police department on the 04thand the

    4thof October 2014 in the branch premises and the Maharagama

    olice station.

    here were 125 drivers who were present for this awareness

    rogramme and were educated on Incident Management, Casualty

    anagement, Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Recovery

    ositions, Hypoxia and other important s that will be valuable in day

    o day life theories by 3 of our best instructors. Practical sessions

    ere also conducted for these participants so that they would have

    better understanding in First Aid.

This is to ensure that these ideals, are understood,espected and applied throughout the Colombo District/ Sri Lanka so as to promote ownership, acceptancend support of SLRCS activities by stakeholders, partners and the community at large.

    issemination programmes were conducted by the branch to various, Red Cross Units of the Colomboistrict during the Months of September and October 2014 as shown in the diagram above and theserogrammes were also conducted for three wheel drivers during the First Aid and Road Safety Awarenessrogramme.

    of October 2014 at the Heraliwayala Temple whichas organized by the Heraliyawala Red Cross Unit.
