SAVING MONEY AS A STUDENT

SAVING MONEY AS A STUDENT

NUS CARD

NUS cards are a fantastic way to save money in a number of stores and eateries. After paying a one-off amount for the NUS card itself - you will be able to make your money back easily through great value discounts.

Some of the discounts included with the card:

10% off Superdrug

20% off Pizza Hut

40% Zizzi's

10% off New Look

20% off Missguided

10% off Lipsy

10% off Co-Op

You will also get offers throughout the year such as discounts of up to 50% off attractions such as Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach etc.

NON-BRANDED FOOD

We understand that buying your own food can be expensive, however, buying non-branded groceries can seriously crunch the costs of your food bill.

Buying the shop's own brand is far more cost effective for students - Tesco's own branded food for instance starts at around 24 pence. Their own brand also ranges from frozen food, to meat & poultry to beauty products - so their is plenty of choice.

Buying frozen food is also recommended if you're trying to live off a budget - it lasts much longer than fresh food and is much cheaper to buy.

TURN OFF YOUR ELECTRICS

Becoming a student and beginning to pay for your electric bill's can be quite a shock to your financial situation.

So, it's simple - Make sure whenever you leave your home that you don't leave your electric on! Turning light's off is a common one - but, turning computers, TV's, plugged-in charger's and more can make a difference to the amount your bill costs each month.

PRE-DRINK

We understand that student's are going to go out and party, so, we're simply helping you to do it and save money at the same time.

Buying drinks from an off licence - supermarkets are more expensive - is far cheaper than buying pre-drinks in a bar.

For example, in an off-licence you could buy 2 Bulmer Cider's for 3 whereas in a pub, a standard rate for 2 Bulmer Cider's would be about 7.60.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Save your money by using public transport or walking instead of driving a car. Driving can be very expensive; taking into consideration the costs of fuel, insurance, MOT, tax etc.

If you require public transport - making a one-off payment for a bus pass or train pass works out much cheaper in the long run.

If your walking distance from your University - even better, get some exercise!
