Your mission to preserve the planet begins in your own
home.

In the Bathroom
![Page 4: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
• Take a shower instead of a bath and you'll use three times less water.
![Page 5: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Save energy, don't make
the water too hot.
![Page 6: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Fix dripping faucets. You can
save 300 to 4000 gallons of
water every month.
![Page 7: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Turn the water off when you brush
and you save about 3650
gallons of water every year.
![Page 8: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Throw away less trash. Chose large family sizes and items
packaged in recyclable containers
![Page 9: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
In the Kitchen
![Page 10: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Don't leave the water
running when you wash dishes.
![Page 11: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Keep the oven door closed when you're cooking. A fourth of the heat escapes when the door
is opened.
![Page 12: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Put lids on pans when you're cooking. The food heats faster.
![Page 13: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Don't stand there with the
fridge door open. Decide
what you want, before you open it.
![Page 14: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Use people power for mixing.
![Page 15: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Choose large sizes packaged in recyclable or reusable
containers.

In the Bedroom
![Page 17: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
In the summer, close the
curtains in the morning so the sun
doesn't heat up your room.
![Page 18: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
In the winter, pile on the
covers instead of
turning up the heat.
![Page 19: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
Turn off the light when
you leave the room.
![Page 20: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
In the Laundry
![Page 21: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Do the laundry in cold water. About 90% of
the energy used in
washing is just to heat the
water.
![Page 22: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
Dry one load after the other so the dryer
doesn't have to reheat.
![Page 23: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
Only dry full loads. Hang up small items like socks instead of using the
dryer.
![Page 24: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Remember to recycle your plastic laundry bottles or refill
them.
![Page 25: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Clean the lint filter. It takes
more energy to dry your clothes
when the lint filter is clogged.
![Page 26: Saving Energy](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060112/55701868d8b42ac0178b5376/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
Never touch the fuse box!

Can you think of more ways to save
energy?
