SaveOn Foods looking for the community to help the Abbotsford Food Bank Nick Arthur October 14, 2015 Normally a place of giving, is desperately looking for donations as the Abbotsford Food Bank has the lowest quantities of food stock they’ve ever had. SaveOn Foods employees saw the story about the Abbotsford Community Services Food Bank crisis situation (that was released by the Abbotsford News on October 8 th ), they went above and beyond to help the struggling organization. “We have always had donation bins for the Food Bank near the exit, but when we all read about the story we knew there was more that we could do to help.” Smith said they now have necessity foods such as peanut butter, pasta, canned meat, soup and more, as well as a cut out of the Food Banks story at every till. As each employee checks out customer’s groceries, they ask them if they would like to purchase any of the essential items or donate money to the Abbotsford Food Bank. “Many of our shoppers seem to be on a tighter budget lately, because the dollar isn’t going as far as it used to”. Smith said so far they have had quite a bit of success with this way of fundraising, and if anyone is interested in donating food items or money to the Abbotsford Food bank, you can make these donations at any of the four SaveOn Foods locations in Abbotsford. Normally  a  place  of  giving,  is  desperately  looking  for  donations  as  the  Abbotsford  Food  Bank  has  the  lowest  quantities  of  food  stock  they’ve  ever  had.  Save-‐On  Foods  employees  saw  the  story  about  the  Abbotsford  Community  Services  Food  Bank  crisis  situation  (that  was  released  by  the  Abbotsford  News  on  October  8th),  they  went  above  and  beyond  to  help  the  struggling  organization.

“We  have  always  had  donation  bins  for  the  Food  Bank  near  the  exit,  but  when  we  all  read  about  the  story  we  knew  there  was  more  that  we  could  do  to  help.”

Smith  said  they  now  have  necessity  foods  such  as  peanut  butter,  pasta,  canned  meat,  soup  and  more,  as  well  as  a  cut  out  of  the  Food  Banks  story  at  every  till.

Smith  said  so  far  they  have  had  quite  a  bit  of  success  with  this  way  of  fundraising,  and  if  anyone  is  interested  in  donating  food  items  or  money  to  the  Abbotsford  Food  bank,  you  can  make  these  donations  at  any  of  the  four  Save-‐On  Foods  locations  in  Abbotsford.
