Georgia Southern University and the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension have collaborated to develop this innovative 2-day conference in the historic port city of Savannah, Georgia.
Due to its high volume of exportable agricultural products, Georgia is poised to expand in the international market to the benefit of farmers, firms and organizations throughout the state. By combining a conference and exposition, the IACE will provide practical and theoretical presentations, workshops, and exhibits with an opportunity for participants to meet international trade representatives.
The conference will cover a range of topics including emerging trends and niche markets in importing/exporting; equipment and machinery; and the latest practices in processing value-added agricultural products. While agribusiness newcomers can learn how to get products exported, more experienced exporters will learn next steps to improve their process and increase their productivity.
Set for Tuesday, Sept. 24, the optional pre-conference farm tour is a day-long event that includes multiple stops at operations in Southeast Georgia. View and learn first-hand how these regional farms are involved in producing, processing, and packaging agricultural products for export.
Running Friday, Sept. 27, the optional limited-enrollment post-conference Port of Savannah tour features a visit to the United States’ fourth largest container port, Garden City Terminal. As North America’s largest single-terminal container facility, the terminal is served by two Class I rail providers and offers immediate interstate access to over 100 trucking companies.
