SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN

3 Required Questions

Required Questions

1 In developing this plan, briefly describe how the school sought advice from individuals (teachers, staff, other school leaders, paraprofessionals, specialized instructional support personnel, parents, community partners, and other stakeholders) was accomplished.

All staff and other stakeholders participated in the comprehensive needs assessment and school improvement planning process through meetings, surveys, and committees. Parents were allowed to give feedback on the different aspects of the parent compact. The plan will last until 2020 and will be updated as needed based on the school-wide data and the needs of the school. The plan was reviewed and revised by the Leadership Team. They gave input and suggestions on needed school-wide changes for improvement. Once all the revisions and updates have been made the School Improvement Plan will be place on the website upon approval.

2 Describe how the school will ensure that low-income and minority children enrolled in the Title I school are not served at disproportionate rates by ineffective, out-of-field, or inexperienced teachers.

All teachers are in-field and highly-qualified.

3 Provide a general description of the Title I instructional program being implemented at this Title I School. Specifically define the subject areas to be addressed and the instructional strategies/methodologies to be employed to address the identified needs of the most academically at-risk students in the school. Please include services to be provided for students living in local institutions for neglected or delinquent children (if applicable).

JHC Butler Elementary is a school-wide Title I school. Researched based instructional strategies/methodologies are being employed to meet the needs of the most academically at-risk students in the reading (ELA), math, science, and social studies. Intervention programs and social services are also provided. The research based instructional strategies being used include Balanced Literacy Scholastic Material, iReady materials(books and computer programs) for Reading and Math, and Eureka Math is used for teaching Math. Eureka Math offers alternative math strategies to teach students how to solve math equations. We will have a Bear Ready Intervention block to provide more intense instruction to students in the areas where they may be struggling. The academically at risk students will be identified and provided with intense instruction in their areas of need. Butler uses the RTI process in conjunction with TIEnet to create Behavior Plans for students that are struggling with behavior issues. The progress of these students and/or the lack of progress is monitored through the Tiered Process so that the support for these students can be identified. This process is also followed for students that are struggling academically.
