Richard Koshalek is President of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Born in Wausau, Wisconsin, he holds a B.A. in architecture and an M.A. in art history, both from the University of Minnesota. Under his leader-ship, Art Center has embarked on a landmark program to invigorate the College’s educational goals and expand both its programs and its campus. Koshalek began as the deputy director and chief curator of The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles in 1980 before being appointed director from 1982 to 1999. He previously served as director of the Fort Worth Art Museum in Texas from 1974 to 1976; the National Endowment for the Arts as Assistant Director of the Visual Arts Program from 1972 to 1974; and as a curator, assistant curator and exhibitions coordinator at the Walker Art Center in Minne-apolis from 1967 to 1968. Koshalek is a recipient of the Chevalier de L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Government (1999).

Candidates for Degrees

This program contains the names of College of Design students who have applied to graduate from fall semester 2006 through summer 2007. This is not an official University of Minnesota graduation list.

To graduate with distinction, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher at graduation. To graduate with high distinction, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher. Graduation with des-ignated Latin honors (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude) is limited to students who participate in the College of Design’s Upper Division Honors Program. Students must complete at least two academ-ic honors learning opportunities, a capstone project, and in their last 60 University of Minnesota credits maintain a 3.50 GPA for cum laude, a 3.66 GPA for magna cum laude, and a 3.75 GPA for summa cum laude honors. Candidates for academic honors are noted in this program.

Phi Upsilon Omicron is a national honor society recognizing and encouraging achieved excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service in the fields of family and consumer sciences founded in 1909 here at the University of Minnesota (the alpha chapter). Phi Upsilon Omicron members are denoted in the program with φ after their name.
