Nirav Patel, RPEBC-PTNirav graduated in 2016 from Pharmacy Technician Program at Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology and he has worked as pharmacy assistant in community pharmacy as well as at the Hospital Pharmacy. He is a listed Pharmacy Technician in good standing since 2018 and is currently working at the Health Sciences Centre - Inpatient Pharmacy. Throughout his career as a Pharmacy Technician, he has acquired various skills such as competency in sterile and non-sterile compounding as per new NAPRA guidelines, knowledge of multiple pharmacy software, effective & efficient patient communication skills which he regularly uses to obtain Best Possible Medication History (BPMH) from patients at the Adult emergency dept. He is active member of CAPT and he regularly participates as one of the committee members which organizes Pharmacy Technician conference in Manitoba.
Samir Niphade, RPEBC-PTSamir graduated from the Pharmacy Technician program at Manitoba Institute of Trades & Technology and has worked as pharmacy assistant at multiple community pharmacies. He has over 2 years of work experience as a Pharmacy technician and he has previously worked at hospital pharmacies providing services to pediatric inpatient, NICU, PICU and Adult inpatient pharmacy at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Keeping with the quest to learn new skills, he recently started his new pharmacy technician role at the Sterile Services dept located at St. Boniface hospital pharmacy. He regularly volunteers at Canadian Red Cross Society as a member of Disaster Response Team, where he assists the evacuees from the remote Northern Manitoba communities which are impacted by flood, wildfires and other natural calamities. In his spare time, Samir likes to go on day hiking and is always ready for a road trip!

This session will explore the causes (preventable and unavoidable) of osteoporosis, individual
patient risk, and navigate how decisions are made to ensure appropriate pharmacotherapy is used
by putting into context the potential benefits, harms, and burdens facing individuals who deal with
this condition.

Jamie Falk is an Associate Professor at the College of Pharmacy, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba and
practices as an Extended Practice Pharmacist with the Department of Family Medicine at the Kildonan Medical Centre in Winnipeg,
Manitoba.
He focuses his clinical practice, research, and teaching on optimizing prescribing practices, approaches to minimizing patient
burden, and promoting evidence-based knowledge translation to learners, clinicians and the patients they care for. He is a national
PEER (Patients, Experience, Evidence, Research) Team member, co-chair of the annual Medications, Evidence, and Decision Support
(MEDS) Conference in Winnipeg, and a member of the pharmacotherapy working group for the Osteoporosis Canada clinical
practice guidelines.

Sheila Betker is a Leadership Development Consultant with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a lifelong learner Sheila has
completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Winnipeg; a Master of Arts majoring in
Sociology at the University of Windsor; and a Master of Business Administration majoring in Leadership at the New York Institute of
Technology. She has obtained the Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) and Chartered Professional of Human
Resources (CPHR) designations.
Sheila has been developing and facilitating training for over twenty years. She has experience conducting needs assessments,
developing and delivering training, and consulting on performance issues with a focus on leadership development, performance
management, change management, and employee engagement. Sheila is a sessional instructor for the Extended Education
Faculty at the University of Manitoba in the Human Resources and Program Development in Adult Learning certificate programs.

Lori completed her Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Manitoba, Pharm.D. from the University of Minnesota, and a
Research Fellowship in Nephrology from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is currently an Extended Practice Pharmacist at the
Health Sciences Centre Renal Health Clinics.

Lori Berard has over 30 years of experience in diabetes education, management and clinical research working as the Nurse
Manager for the Health Sciences Centre Diabetes Research Program and a Faculty Member at the University of Manitoba
Department of Medicine Section of Endocrinology. Currently she is working as a consultant in diabetes management and clinical
research operations. Lori has dedicated many years volunteering with Diabetes Canada and has extensive experience with the
Clinical Practice Guidelines. She has received many honors and awards related to her work in diabetes.

A lot has changed over the last year in the world of pharmaceutical compounding in the province
of Manitoba. This program aims to provide some clarity to this new world of compounding rules
and standards to help the pharmacy technician work within a best practice model in their
respective workplaces.
Kristine Petrasko, B.Sc.Pharm
Kristine is a community pharmacist with practical clinical experience in respiratory and tobacco education. She acts as a consultant
for PEAR HealthCare Inc. on a variety of educational projects to continue inspiring others to advance their careers with additional
certifications like the CRE or CTE designations. Currently, she is the professional relations pharmacist for The Compounding Pharmacy
of Manitoba.

Internet-delivered Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Mental Health ConditionsSponsored by Pharmacists Manitoba
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has been used for mental health conditions for many years, however, accessing this type of therapy
through an online platform is a new approach. The current pandemic has resulted in a pressing need for alternative socially
distanced therapies. CADTH has reviewed the current evidence, and its quality, to assess the use of Internet Delivered Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy (iCBT) for anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. This presentation will provide an overview of
evidence findings and key messages related to iCBT. In addition, the role of pharmacists in mental health and the Manitoba AbilitiCBT
program will be discussed.
Jill Sutherland, RTT, MHS Ms. Sutherland is the Manitoba Liaison Officer for CADTH, the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technology in Health. Her clinical background is radiation therapy, and she holds a Masters in Health Studies. Jill spent many years working clinically and has experience in education, professional development, primary care and program management. She has been active in research and has an interest in supporting evidence-informed decision making.
Evelina Andrushchyshyn, B.Sc.PharmMrs. Andrushchyshyn is a new graduate from the University of Manitoba and she completed her 4th year elective rotation at CADTH. Her rotation at CADTH exposed her to the processes and policies associated with drugs and health technologies. She knows her experience with CADTH will improve her future practice as a pharmacist. She also holds a Bachelor of Science General Degree.
