Welcome to this year’s Ripley Rocks brought toyou by Ripley Scout Group in association withother Ripley organisations.We have a fantastic line up of musicians and entertainers for your delight during this year’s event.Throughout the day we shall be presenting live music continuously from our two stages.

During the afternoon we have a mixture of seasoned musicians and several teenage bands that will bebringing their own angst and attitude. We have our own scout band featuring several ukuleles and a localguitar teacher who will showcase some of his pupils. Our compere Peter Tolhurst will keep you informedwhat is happening during the whole event, so sit back and enjoy the music.

Throughout the day Ollie The Juggler will be doing his thing and you must watch out for his fire show laterin the evening!

We have some fabulous prizes including a Fender Stratocaster donated by Fleetcroft Guitars as well assome other great prizes. We will also be auctioning a talking book of Eric Clapton’s autobiography signedby the Ripley man himself.

Our headlining band Draven deserves our support and special thanks. This local band saw their brilliantdebut album “Eden” arrived in the shops in 2009. They have a headlining slot on the mainstage at Guilfestnext week and we hope they can make the big time this year. They will rock your socks off!

All profits from this year’s event will go towards the general upkeep of Ripley Scout Group and ensure weare able to continue to maintain our headquarters and keep our minibus running for the benefit of all ouryoung members.

Nick Cole has beenplaying drums sinceabout the age of 12,

and playing in live bands since his late teens in cover bands, tribute bands, functionbands and originals bands, across genres including rock, pop and jazz. Playing live,Nick uses a Pearl Masters Maple kit and a combination of Zildjian and Sabian cymbals.He also teaches drums, and is a director of global drum tuition network, Drumsense.

Tony Donnelly, bass guitarist, whose influences have come from a wide and varied genreof music, from Marvin Gaye to the Foo Fighters, Pink Floyd to Kings of Leon, and StevieWonder to Red Hot Chilli Peppers. He uses a Fender Precision Bass with a Mark Bass‘Little Mark II’ amplifier running through a TRV102P and TRV115P Mark Bass cabinets.

Gary Albans has been playing guitar since the age of 10, andhas played in live bands since his late teens in original and cover

bands. Genres covered during his experience include, rock, pop, jazz rock and soul.Playing live, Gary uses a ’96 Strat, a Yamaha SG200s and a Seagull Acoustic. Like mostGuitarist's he has a selection of effects units, his latest is a Line 6, X3 Live and it plugs

straight into the PA.

Phil Green is the singer, with a real passion and taste for the masters of his trade, StevieWonder, Marvin Gaye, Tom Jones, Sinatra, Steve Tyler, Ottis Reading, Michael McDonaldto name but a few. Phil joined Bazooka Joe a year ago bringing with him a plethora ofexperience from performing Swing, Tribute and Jazz; and has given Bazooka Joe the voicethis band was justifiably craving.

Introducing #NowPlaying! Formed from the parents, leaders and hangers on from Ripley Scout group, this bandof ne-er-do-wells are this year tackling the sophistication of a Ukulele trio! Marvel as they wring fresh magicfrom a set of classic rock songs and ballads. Could this be thestart of a Ripley Rocks Ukulele revival...?

Fall From Grace are a collaboration ofyoung musicians from Ripley and Send. The guitarists are all aged between 10 and 14 and have been taughtby Dave Pascoe, the founder of Willow Guitar Tuition, based in Send, The lead singer is 12 year old Lilly Morton,a student at St Peters school in Guildford and the the bass player is Anna Stubbs from West Clandon who is 11!The band's drummer is Simon ‘sticks’ Hurdle, the eldest group member at the sprightly age of 19! None of theyoungsters have played in public before so wish them luck!

The last two songs will be performed by Dave and one of his older students, Sarah Glassup with Sarah’s boyfriendMark performing the vocals.

In September, Dave is starting ‘The Band Factory’ in Send. This will be a weekly rock school focussed on givingaspiring guitarists aged between 9 and 16, with at least one years’ experience the opportunity of performingwithin a live band. Please speak to Dave if you need more information.

Circus-olly-g is run by Olly Bower and specialisesin circus skills workshops and tuition in the followingcircus aspects: juggling, plate spinning, diabolo, devilstick, poi and balancing props.

Circus skills can be performed by anyone regardlessof age and ability. Circus skills workshops can alsobe performed by anyone and for any reason be itschool clubs, Scout and Guide groups, work teambuilding sessions, social events or just to trysomething different.

I leant to three-ball juggle from a very early age andhave gone on to teach myself plate spinning, diabolo,poi, devil stick and how to use various balancingprops. With help along the way from amateurs andprofessionals alike, I’ve picked up knowledge indifferent ways to teach circus skills as well as tricksand performance skills.

Clockwork CityA young, Guildford based band, formed in September of 2009. Occupying a

space between rock, pop and metal, this female fronted band play energetic,

original material. The linup features Georgia Meek on vocals; Ali Jewers and

Andrew Cairns on Guitar; Chris Boyle on bass; and Josh Insoll on the Drums.

Rock with Magnum play rock music for charity. The band wasformed in June 2001 after a friend tragically died from meningitis.

A garden party was held in Ripley, Surrey to help raise money forthe Meningitis Trust. Rock with Magnum was formed to play livemusic for the afternoon.

Following on from this success the band decided to carry onplaying together and has increased its number from the original

four to six members, ages ranging from 35ish to 67,but all have the combined mental age of one teenager.

The group play many rock classics such as Jonny B Goode, Caroline, Wonderful Tonight and In The Midnight Houretc. and has vastly increased its repertoire since the bands first gig.

Most of the band members have played with various bands in the past and the current line up consists of theoriginal four, Noel Gurney (drums and vocals), Alan Burchett (lead guitar and vocals), Richard Walker (bass guitar)and Mike Milne (Rhythm guitar and vocals). Our other members are Tony Allwood (Rhythm guitar and percussion),Bernie Hunt (saxophone and percussion). Tony Fuller is our sound engineer.
