EXPERIENCE As a corporate tax lawyer, Samira began her career at Arthur Andersen in Houston, by working on some of the most sophisticated mergers and acquisitions, tax structuring deals in the country (including Enron and Dynegy.) Eventually, she jumped to the other side and defended the structures by anticipating, preventing, managing, and resolving IRS tax controversies. Her experience in drafting tax opinions, performing corporate tax due diligence analysis, and structuring entities and deals provides a strong foundation for her mastery of the interconnectivity between the key aspects of any successful business.

While she was building her technical tax structuring and analysis skills, she developed a significant amount of business through identifying target clients, utilizing aggressive networking and elite affiliations, managing proposals, closing deals, and cultivating on-going trusted business advisor relationships. After a successful legal career, Samira again transformed her role, and jumped the “Corporate America” ship to land in the entrepreneurial pool. She seized the opportunity to combine her extensive skill sets and vast network of professional resources to elevate organizations with the need for an experienced and trusted business advisor. Since 2008 Samira has been building, guiding, and investing in startups and small to medium sized businesses. MEDIA, PUBLISHING & SPEAKING Samira has participated in several radio and TV programs on a wide range of topics from favorite meal in Paris to how to find the best career for you. She is a frequent guest on local talk shows, and her unique life experiences and career path has been featured in numerous local, national, and international publications. Samira also hosted a food radio show entitled “Samiraʼs Table.” Samira has published numerous articles, including in the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal, and The Texas Tax Lawyer. She also wrote: Own Your Bliss, The Book - scheduled to be published later this year. She has spoken on a wide range of topics from energy taxes, to grassroots marketing, to professional reinventions, to pro bono opportunities for lawyers; at a wide variety of venues ranging from the American Bar Association to the National Association of Women MBAs. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS & ACTIVITIES Samira received an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Houston after completing her JD, and B.S. in International Trade and Finance with a minor in Economics, from Louisiana State University. She is licensed to practice law in Texas, Louisiana, and before the U.S. Tax Court. Throughout her career she has held many leadership positions within the American, Texas, and Houston Bar Associations and Tax Sections (including the Vice-Chairmanship of the ABA Energy and Environmental Taxes Committee.) Samira is presently serving on or has served on the boards of numerous civic, educational and charitable institutions. These include the Bilateral U.S.–Arab Chamber of Commerce, the Houston–Abu Dhabi Sister Cities Association, the Houston Ballet Guild, the Fresh Arts Coalition, the Baylor Teen Health Foundation, and the LSU 2006–2010 Capital Campaign. She is a 2012 Houston Grand Opera – Ovation Award Recipient, attended the Houston Office of the Mayorʼs Trade Mission to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, and served on the 2008 Consular Ball Patronʼs Committee. PERSONAL & COMMUNITY Samira was raised in the Middle East and is a first-generation Arab-American. Her father is Lebanese, and her mother is of Sicilian, French, and Irish descent. She grew up in U.A.E, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Switzerland, Syria and London. Currently, Samira resides in New York and Houston, and is a fervent supporter of her local communities. She is the proud aunt of her baby nephew, and the proud Godmother of several children. She is an avid traveler and culinary connoisseur.
