Camp Volunteer – Activity Supervisor

Illawarra Water Sports and Recreation Park, Wollongong

2011 – Present

Design a range of water sports activities for disadvantaged students attending weekend camps. Ages

range from 6 to 12 years with a total of 55 children to supervise at any one time.

Achievements:

Developed a range of non-verbal methods of communication with children from non-English

speaking backgrounds. These were adopted by other staff.

Volunteer position providing individual coaching for first and second year undergraduate students in

Mathematics

Achievements:

Academic results in Mathematics improved 21% for four of the five students I mentored. Coaching

resulted in two students achieving a credit for compulsory Mathematics subject in their course.
