Summary
Symptom
You are working with the SAP system and would like to display adocumentation describing how to work with a particular program,transaction.
You use menu: Help ->
- Application Help
- SAP library
The browser is started and displays the screen with 2 frames. You canobserve following behavior:
o In left frame the structure is displayed, in right frame no contentis displayed. Instead of the content, the following error textappears:'Action canceled.Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested.The page might be temporarily unavailable.'
You also could not display Microsoft Help files, which are notlocated on the same frontend.
o Links are not working in the content frame. If properties of thelink is displayed, the following can be seen:javascript:LINK81.Click()Protocol: Unknown ProtocolType: not available.

Cause and Prerequisites
The SAP system is customized for the usage of help type 'HtmlHelpFile'(.chm files) in the transaction SR13 or via SAPDOCCD.INI file.The help files are not installed locally on the frontend, but on a networkshare.
You apply to your frontend / server (and / or):
o the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-001 "Vulnerability in HTMLHelp Could Allow Code Execution (890175)" - most of the computerswith Windows 2003 SP1 are affected

o the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-023 "Vulnerability in HTMLHelp Could Allow Code Execution (840315)";
o the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-026 "Vulnerability in HTMLHelp Could Allow Remote Code Execution (896358)";
o or have Windows Vista
Solution
Since the problem is caused not by a SAP product, please follow the advisein the Knowledge Base articles from Microsoft referenced below. Theycontain certain registry changes, which have to be performed on everyfrontend / server, the Microsoft Security Bulletin should be applied.

Typically value 1 or 2 is entered in the "MaxAllowedZone"."UrlAllowList"=\\servername\share;file://\\servername\share;http://www.your_address.com/help_dir/"Actual required settings are determined by the location of .chm filesin the customer environment.
