☞ QUESTION 1

BSP Pages without Authentication

I am attempting to create a BSP page that stores user data

in SAP on my career website even though the site was not

developed in SAP Portal. As far I know, SAP needs a R3 user

id and password to access any BSP page. But how would I

implement this on a public website?

✍ A NSWER

BSP pages are served by the SAP WAS system. The only

option available to accomplish this task is requiring a logon

or a default logon for the BSP. If you create the page through

another web method, such as .net or Java, your only choicewould be to have a default logon through the respective

connector.

☞QUESTION 2

User List In Portal

Is there a way in SAP Portal 6.0 SP13 to get a list of the active

users or the users who have logged on during the day or

during some other time frame?

✍ A NSWER

This task cannot be accomplished through Portal. But you

can obtain this information by using the Solution Manager

Diagnostics and the Netweaver Administration tool.

☞QUESTION 3

SAP Portal 6.0 On NW04 SR1 - Implementation

I have installed SAP Portal 6.0 SP9 on NW04 SR1 ABAP +

J2EE and upgraded it to SP12. We also have ITS installed

for Web AS 620. Where is documentation available that

explains integrating SAP Portal with R/3 4.7, CRM & BW

and configuring SSO, Running SAP Transaction Codes thruPortal Web GUI and integrating Enterprise Portal UME with

 Active Directory?

✍ A NSWER

To find the appropriate documentation to perform this task,

look for Rapid Installer 2.1.1 in http://service.sap.com/nw-ri.

☞QUESTION 4

SAP Portal Logon Page Language

Is there a way to change the logon language of the SAP Portal

6.0 (http://server/irj) from English to another language? I

have installed Spanish on the system and require the logon

page to be shown in ES too.

✍ A NSWER

To change the SAP Portal logon page language, add

the following code in SAP Portal 6.0: C:\usr\sap\SID\

DVEBMGSXX\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_

 jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\system\properties\prtDefault.

☞QUESTION 5

Custom ISR

I have created a new Scenario using QISRSCENARIO.

Subsequently, I developed the related form and interface and

activated them in R/3. I tried deploying the ISR Scenario by

creating a WebDynpro IVIEW in Enterprise Portal connecting

to WebDynpro Application ISRFORM from NAMESPACE sap.com/pcui_gp~isr, but I was unable to pass the SCENARIO

name as parameters. How would I deploy my ISR Scenario

in Enterprise Portal?

✍ A NSWER

You may deploy your ISR Scenario in Enterprise Portal bycreating a Custom ISR using the Transaction QISRSCENARIO

along with the respective Interface and Form by choosing

Adobe Interactive Form Builder (transaction SFP). Develop

a WebDynpro Iview in Enterprise Portal passing the Scenario

and Mode as Application parameters. Add this Iview to the

appropriate page. Then add the page to the appropriate role.

Assign the role to the appropriate user group, which had

certain targeted users. Test the Iview and you should see

 your Form in EP.

☞QUESTION 6

Standard ID For Portal

We have been working on a Portal development system but

our users are unable to logon to the system because they

have forgotten their username and password. Is there any

standard ID we can use to log on and change the password?

✍ A NSWER

The standard username and password for the Portal system

is username: Administrator and password: administrator.

☞QUESTION 7

Steps For Deletion Of Users In EBP

Even though we try to delete the business partner

relationships and assignments, we are getting an error when

deleting the user id. What are the steps for removing users

from the EBP organization structure and deleting their user

ids?

✍ A NSWER

If you are unable to delete a user via the web transaction

for maintain user, you should go to transaction code SU01

and delete the user ID. To accomplish this find the PPOMA_

BBP and the position for that user. There should be only one position and BP. Click on the BP and delete the assignment

then save the change. Finally, click on the position and delete

the object.

☞QUESTION 8

 WEBGUI And Design

How do I create a new design theme for WebGUI that looks

like our standard corporate layout?

✍ A NSWER

To modify the look of the WebGUI, create the theme you want

to use by copying from an existing one, e.g. 2002. To change

the colors, edit the ‘generator’ style sheet as required. Create

a new service and service file. Then, add the parameter

‘~webgui_theme <theme>’ to the service file. Call the new

service as you would with standard WebGUI, but instead,

specify your new service name.

☞QUESTION 9

User Deletion Not Allowed

I have been warned over and over again not to delete EBP

users, especially the ones that have carried out transactions

in EBP. But, how can we avoid paying for licenses costs

generated by Locked/Disabled users?

✍ A NSWER

For EBP users, SAP does not charge a license fee on a per

user basis. SAP charges on the basis of application cost. If

you decide to delete the user in EBP, you may do so after

archiving the transactional data of the user.

☞QUESTION 10

Customizing Default Web-Temple

I am attempting to customize some elements of the default

web template in SAP Netweaver 2004. However, in the Web

Application Designer I am unable to create the same web

template. Can I open the default web template in Netweaver

2004 and customize it there?

✍ A NSWER

It depends on what version of BW you are running. If you

are using BW 3.5, the default Web template is 0ADHOC.

However, if you are running an earlier version, the default

Web template is 0QUERY_TEMPLATE.

In either case, run the Web Application Designer, then choose

Web Template, Open, and on the pop-up screen type one of

the above names into the Description / Technical Name field

and click on the OK button. The template will be opened and

available for editing.

Of course, once you edit the template it should be saved

under a different name.

☞QUESTION 11

BSP’s Debugging

I’m trying to debug a BSP development but the debugging

is not working properly. Debugging of normal ABAP

developments works as usual. Is there any parameter on the

WAS system that is capable of modifying or deactivating the

BSP’s debugger?

✍ A NSWER

You should resolve this problem by activating the debugging

in transaction SICF and the set external breakpoint in the

code. Once this is done, you should debug your files after

setting SICF.

☞QUESTION 12

ESS Leave Request

In my scenario, the user requests time off and the system

notifies the user that there is insufficient quota. Nevertheless,

the user sends the request to the approver. Is there a way

to prevent the workflow from being sent to the approver if

there is insufficient quota? What is the transaction behindleave request?

✍ A NSWER

The transaction for leave requests is WS20000081. A

solution, although not the most elegant, is to put some code

in the leave request template to check the status of the errormessage. The message is stored in the business html variable

info_text, template: sapmws20000081h_150.html.

Testing J2EE Applications In Web AS

I was successful in deploying a J2EE Application that consists

of session bean, a servlet, and a jsp file onto Web AS 6.40

through Netweaver Dev Studio. My application was deployed

through Enterprise Portal’s Web AS System Information. But

how do I invoke the application/jsp file?

✍ A NSWER

If you have deployed your application to the special context,

then you can access your jsp using http://serverAdress:

serverPort/contextName/jspFolder/jspName.jsp. If you have

XI repository deployed on your server, the start page ishttp://xiserver:57700/rep/start/index.jsp. The file index.jsp

is located in the folder /start/ in “war” and the application

context name is “rep”.

☞QUESTION 14

How To Publish In Was 640

I am currently using Microsoft Windows IIS, but intend to

replace it with the WAS 640. How can I publish a single html

page in WAS 640? Is ITS the only way to do that?

✍ A NSWER

WAS consists of both R/3 and a J2EE engine. The J2EE

engine is a fully functional J2EE server and you can deploy

any “ear” or “war” archive to it. WAS has a “J2EE admin” tool

and you can deploy applications there.

☞QUESTION 15

Enterprise Portal Part Of Netweaver

Is SAP Enterprise Portal is part of Netweaver?

✍ A NSWER

Netweaver powers SAP Enterprise Portals. Netweaver is

the new 6.40 + WAS and the “new dimension” products. Web

reporting from BW 3.5 is included.

How To Call An URL Using POST Method

I plan to call an external URL using the GET Method. However,

if I attempt to call the external URL using the WS_EXECUTE

function or show_url method these parameters are visible in

the URL bar. The solution to my problem seems to be to call

the URL using the POST Method. How would I call the URLusing this method?

✍ A NSWER

To call a URL using the POST method, create a simple form

and place it in an HTML document. A truncated example of

an HTML form page would read:

<FORM METHOD=POST ACTION=”your url”>

<INPUT TYPE=”submit”>

</FORM>

Delete Function In SRM PO’s

I am implementing an extended classic scenario to delete

purchase order line items in SRM front end, despite the fact

that a goods receipt exists. In the backend R3 system, the

deletion is not applied since there are already subsequent

documents. How can I prevent the deletions for SRM itemsthat have subsequent documents?

✍ A NSWER

You can prevent the deletion for SRM items that have

subsequent documents by applying OSS note: 852327.

We have a problem with users in some parts of the hierarchy

where the Purchasing Group of the person on whose behalf

the shopping is being done is not overwriting the Purchasing

Group of the person doing the shopping. How can I resolve

the problem of purchasing groups not transferring correctlywhen using the “shop on behalf of” functionality in EBP?

✍ A NSWER

You can resolve this issue by adding the product categories

to the responsibility tab for the purchasing group.

I am implementing ESS on 4.6c and portals. In the Address

change function, we are not using the country field (PZ02)

from R/3. How do I remove this field from ESS?

✍ A NSWER

You could copy the service and call the new service in your

portal. Then configure the field to display invisibly in the

PBO. You could also reconfigure the country key since the

layout of each screen and the available fields are accessible

from this function.

Implementing WAS on SAP 4.6C

We are running SAP version is 4.6C. We want to give our sales

office in Germany web access to our SAP. Can we do this

by implementing SAP WAS? What version and application

architecture should be used?

✍ A NSWER

For specified version you have to use ITS for any web

access.

If you want to use WAS, you have to upgrade to 4.7.

You need to upgrade the version to 4.7. Only 4.7 will support

the WAS builder.

If your issue to giving people in another country access to

one of your SAP system, then WAS has absolutely nothing to

do with it. You do it other ways.

 Web Application Server And ABAP

I am designing a new interface solution with some a

monitoring product. The results are output to an XML file.

We are using BSP for embedding ABAP. The monitoring

product we run is WEB AS and the monitoring information is

obtained from BW. However, I am unable to access the WEB AS. Can I run ABAP report in WEB AS in the same fashion

that I run it in SAP GUI (se38)? How can I execute ABAP

without the BSP in WEB AS?

✍ A NSWER

If you have a predefined variant you may run ABAP report inweb AS the same way we run it in SAP GUI (se38), but you

will not have a selection screen.

You cannot execute ABAP without the BSP on WEB AS.

You may access SAP WAS using web services that becomes

accessible once a new BSP page is created. From web

services, activate transaction code SICF.

The Web Service is the method that actually talks to the WAS

 via the browser.

✍ A NSWER

There are several development tools and programming

languages available. You could use Java through the

Netweaver development studio, Webdynpro through the

Help On RFC Connection In J2EE And BIW

I am attempting to create an RFC connection for J2EE and

BIW for Enterprise Portal. While testing for the J2EE Engine

Unicode test, I receive the error “Target system not reached”.

When I attempt to created the BIW RFC connection to EPS6.0, I receive the error “program PORTAL_BIW_PORTAL not

registered / CPI-C error CM_ALLOCATE_FAILURE_RETRY”.

How should I resolve these errors?

✍ A NSWER

The problem is that Portal should reference BW via an HTTPinterface (ICM) or via the 3200 dispatcher port, not an RFC

connection. Once you have made this correction, register

the Portal program on the BW gateway.

ESS Landscape Installation On SAP 4.6C

I am currently running SAP 4.6C but would like to

eventually implement HR and ESS. For planning purposes,

I am developing an estimate of hardware costs but require

clarification on the relationship between ESS and SAP. Is ESS

a separate SAP component, e.g. BW APO, a trimmed downSAP installation with extra functionality? How much server

space will be needed to accommodate 1200 employees?

Is it advisable to have ITS on a separate server and if so,

how much storage space will be required? If ITS is installed

on a separate server, is a separate ITS for DEV and WAS

necessary?

✍ A NSWER ESS/MSS is not a single component but essentially an

enhancement. The system landscape with ESS consists of

the SAP Enterprise Portal loaded with the ESS/MSS business

packages, hooked to an ITS (which is required with SAP 4.6C

rather than a WAS) and connected to your SAP systems.

Using this enhancement will involve some development in

your R/3 system to turn on the ESS functionality within HR.

With regard to hardware requirements I recommend a DEV

and PRD Portal landscape. The DEV portal should have

the Portal and ITS running on the same server. The PRD

landscape with require at least one Enterprise Portal and

one ITS server. With approximately 1200 users, you mayneed more than one Enterprise Portal server.

We are running ITS version 6.20 with patch level 11 on a

Dual-host, with Agate separated from Wgate with a firewall

instances in IIS using the same port?

✍ A NSWER

You cannot run multiple IIS instance on the same port. Each

time you create a new IIS instance, you must create a new

IIS with its own unique port number. When you install the

new ITS instance, a pick list is displayed allowing you to pick

what web site you want to use for the new ITS instance. If the

web site you select is already used by another IIS instance, it

Role Of The Web In SAP

What is the role of the web in SAP modules? And how much

previous knowledge of the web is required to learn SAP?

✍ A NSWER

SAP has, in recent years, begun to implement a clear

internet/web strategy. They currently use a number of

internet programming technologies, such as JAVA, J2EE,

.Net, ABAP, BHMTL and HTML, to mention a few. Essentially

these technologies are their new delivery mechanism for

chaining together information, process and business flow,

and reporting.

The amount of previous web knowledge needed to learn

SAP depends upon what you plan on learning. From a user

perspective, it is not difficult to learn SAP using the SAPGUI.

From a technical or functional perspective, there is a lot to

learn and absorb.

SAP overall is a complex tool and it requires such a change in

the mindset and way of thinking you are used to with other

systems and applications that it could easily take a year or

more before you become comfortable with SAP, and even

then with only the area that you focus on. It would be a huge

undertaking to learn every aspect of SAP.

organizational structure. If this attribute is not found, the

system automatically takes the user as the goods recipients.

You can resolve this error by defining the attribute and

Best Upgrade From Enterprise Portal 5.0

SP5

We are currently on Enterprise Portal SP5 and our suppliers

are talking about upgrading us to Enterprise Portal 5.0 SP6,

but would we be better going to Enterprise Portal 6.0?

✍ A NSWER

There is no upgrade from Enterprise Portal 5.0 to Enterprise

Portal 6.0. You must migrate your Portal content to an entirely

new portal installation, namely, Enterprise Portal 6.0. There

is a migration run book available from SAP for this.

SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 And CRM 4.0

I am seeking advice about SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 and CRM.

I have installed the CRM 4.0 server and the Enterprise Portal

6.0 server (Portal, CM/Collab/TREX). I am now working to

install the portals side of CRM 4.0. I have installed the CRM

IC Web client, can open the webclient but am unsure wherethe IC web client configuration is performed?

How I can access CRM through the portals? Should I

install the ITS or the Java GUI? Where is the best place to

find installation and configuration guides for CRM through

 portals?

✍ A NSWER

You should access your CRM application through the

Enterprise Portal 6.0 CRM Business Packages. These are

iViews which are able to login to your CRM system. The

Master Guide for CRM 4.0 contain valuable information

on completing this process. You should also review the

Netweaver 2004 Master Guide which is located in the

“instguides” alias on SAP Service Market Place.

Disable SAP*

I am running Enterprise Portal 6.0, SP2, patch 3, hotfix

6. When I try to disable sap* user, I receive the following

error message: “To disable the SAP* user, enter a vaild

superuser: com.sap.security.api.AuthenticationFailedExce

ption: PASSWORD_EXPIRED”. I have altered the sapnum. properties file to read: “ume.superadmin.activated=false”.

How should I resolve this issue?

✍ A NSWER

When you disable the SAP* user, you must enter the user

ID and password of another superuser in the portal. This isa mechanism to prevent you from disabling the SAP* user,

without having another superuser with which to log on to the

portal. To disable the SAP* user user, follow these steps:

1. In the Enterprise Portal, choose System Administration

-> System Configuration -> UM Configuration.

2. From the Data Sources tab, deselect Enable SAP* User.

3. Enter the user ID and password of a different superuser.

4. Save your changes.

5. Restart the Java application server.

Make sure you have set up a user ID that has super user

rights. Verify you know the password of this account. Logoff.

Stop the SAP J2EE Engine. Locate the sapum.properties.bak

file. Make sure the setting is set as follows: ume.superadmin.

activated=FALSE Then rename the file to sapum.properties

removing the .bak portion of the file name. Restart the SAP

Se80 (Object Navigator) Has Blank Panel

I updated my computer with the latest Microsoft Office and

Internet Explorer patches. When I started my system the

following morning, SE80 no longer worked and the upper

left panel where the program is selected is completely blank.

The lower left panel contains the object list within that program, and the right panel can be chosen in several ways,

but the only way I know to enter something for the lower left

panel is to type it into the upper right. And there is nothing

there to type into now. How can I fix this problem?

✍ A NSWER

It is the new patches that are the cause of your problems.

Uninstall all of the patches you recently installed. It is

common during these installations that the MSHTML.DLL is

removed. Browse the Microsoft website to find a replacement

version of this DLL file. Evaluate the versions available and

select the file compatible with your operating system.

ESS Photo Help

What is the best way to implement a photograph in ESS?

✍ A NSWER

Photographs are stored in a content server and retrieved

in R/3 (@PA30). ESS calls the ITS template relevant for the

photo and the template then retrieves the image. These

photographs are retrieved through the Archivelink and, as

for the content server, you may use any SAP certified content

server or SAP content server to house the images.

Sales Order Entry Screen Searchable Flow

Files

I am planning a sales order entry screen using flow files.

My user should be able to search for materials or products

they need. However, search content does not appear to be

compatible with flow files. Is there any method available that

will allow users to search for materials and pass back the

selected material to the correct order line item on the sales

order screen?

✍ A NSWER

One method to accomplish this is by implementing the “field-

set” function to create the internal table in ABAP. Once the

table is created, you should use “field-transport” to transport

the drop down content to the web. If one drop down is

linked to another then you must use Javascript and code

to build the drop down list in “PAI of the screen”. There is

documentation and sample code available on the “field-set”

function at http://help.sap.com.

Enterprise Portal 6.0 On BW Server

I would like to install SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 on my BW

server? Is this possible or should Enterprise Portal live on a

separate server?

✍ A NSWER

You can install Enterprise Portal 6.0 on the same box with

BW but SAP does not recommend this. Both systems are

extremely resource intensive, so you may experience

performance issues if you decide to go this route.

 Web Application Builder Vs. SAP@Webstudio

Currently we are running Web Application Builder version

4.6C on ITS. What is the best tool for building Internet

application components, SAP@Webstudio or Web Application

Builder from 4.6C?

✍ A NSWER

SAP is moving away from SAP@WebStudio. It is cumbersome

and at times difficult to use. Most programmer prefer using

Web Application Builder.

Enterprise Portal WAS And Java Applications

I am seeking clarification regarding some components of

SAP Enterprise Portal. First, when is it necessary to install

WAS and does SAP Enterprise Portal run Java applications?

Is J2EE always required or may I use a different engine?

✍ A NSWER

The SAP J2EE Engine is the runtime engine that runs

Enterprise Portal runs. It is also one of two runtime engines

that drive SAP WAS. The other one is the ABAP System.

You are only required to install and run J2EE if you host

Enterprise Portal 6.0 With regard the SAP running Javaapplications, most Iviews are Java applications. Your non-

Iview Java programs can run on the J2EE Engine, however,

y can also deploy other Java applications on top of the J2EE

Engine, next to the installed Portal system.

Internet Explorer Freezes in Applicant Self-

Service

We are experience a problem where some “applicants”

browsers are freezing up when accessing a portion of the

PBW3 service inside ASS. Some browsers of the same

version and patch level work fine but others just freeze when

pressing the ‘Apply’ button to begin the application process.

We are running ITS build 46D 4640.4000.36.7055. We have

 programmed different Internet Explorer configurations,

versions and patches without resolution. If some users can

run the function successfully correctly, it seems that the

problem may be pc-based. Has anyone encountered a similar

 problem?

✍ A NSWER

A Java Applet incompatibility issue is the cause of your

problems. Try implementing service PBW3_TC (TC: tree

control).
