Simplified Installation and Use of Business Packages

An installation performed by using the SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer is faster in comparison to the standard SAP NetWeaver installation process.Example Scenario: Installation of NW 2004 Support Package Stack 10

NW standard installation process requires the installation of Service Release 1 and in a second step the download of stack 10 from the SAP Software Distribution Center. You need to run up to 8 different installers.With Rapid Installer 2.1 you can install NW stack 10 in one step within two hours. You only have to run one installer.

Using business packages is also simplified by the SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer: The steps (1) download from SDN Content Portfolio and (2) import into the portal are obsolete.


Initial Installation, No Upgrade!

SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer supports an inital installation and implementation but not an upgrade from one SAP NetWeaver support package stack to the next stack.

Installation

SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer is shipped on a DVD. The installation can be performed in a few steps.

Start WizardStart Wizard…on one of the following operatingsystems:MS Windows 2000 or MS Windows 2003 orSUN Solaris orLinux (only RI 2.5/2.5.1)

Step 1: Choose Database

In the installation wizard open the corresponding folderfor the installed database and double-click

„Default Installation – Java System“.


Step 2: Define Options for Installation and Configuration

Select your type of UserManagement Engine.

Select „Install preconfigured EnterprisePortal Scenario“ for a custom installation:you are asked to specify specific values

during installation.Select „Use Default Values“ to install SAP Enterprise Portal scenario with default values.

Select further installation and

configuration options

Select to installTREX.


Step 3: Check Default Values

This step is skipped if you selected an installation with default values in step 2.

To perform a custom SAP Enterprise Portal installation, check the suggested values and change them if necessary.


Step 4: Enter SAP Java Cryptographic Toolkit Archive

To enable SSL and HTTPS connections and to encrypt the secure store

in the file system, you need to downloadthe SAP Java Cryptographic Toolkit.


Step 5: Check the Values Again

If you have changed some values you can check them again and then proceed with the installation .


Step 6: Enter Password for User Accounts

Enter a general password for different SAP NetWeaveruser accounts which will be created during the installation.


Step 7: Define SLD Connectivity

Select which System Landscape Directory (SLD) will be used to connect to your SAP backend systems.


Step 8: Define Backend Connectivity

Select systems for which you want to set up the backend connections.

Step 9: Define ITS and Web Application Server Settings

Define the SAP Internet Transaction Server (ITS) and Web AS connection parameters for backend systems.


Step 10: Define Users for ESS/MSS

To run an ESS/MSS scenario in SAP Enterprise Portal directly after the RI setup, you need to specify users for

an ESS and MSS administrator in the Portal.

To perform information broadcasting in SAP Enterprise Portal directly after the RI setup, you need to specify a user

for an BEx Information Broadcasting administrator in the Portal.


Step 11: Check Parameters and Start Installation Process

Review the settings and parameters. If necessary, you can change them by clicking Back.
