1 What's new in this release

The following new features have been added. Instructions on how to use each feature are available in the SAP Jam Collaboration documentation located on the SAP Help Portal.

NoteAll features in this SAP Jam Collaboration release will be available to customers working with the preview release starting on Friday, August 4, 2017. The release will be available in production starting on Friday, September 8, 2017. This document is subject to minor daily updates until Friday, August 4, 2017. Further updates may occur after that date on an as-needed basis. The final and complete version will be published on or before Friday, September 8, 2017. Please check the SAP Help Portal for your latest version of this document.

Messages: New hires can contact their HR Partner using the one on one messaging feature when they have personal questions that they'd prefer not to ask in a group setting.

1.1 Accessibility support

As per Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), the following enhancements have been made to SAP Jam to help satisfy critical requirements to achieve compliance with section 508. Government and public agencies that require adherence to the guidelines can now ensure that their employees with disabilities have a productive experience with SAP Jam.

Page redirects ● When clicking a link that causes a SAP Jam page to redirect, the screen reader now reads out the message "Loading page" and "You are now viewing".

Correct identification of elements

● Several improvements were made to ensure that screen readers correctly identify elements in focus within the web application.

Buttons read by Jaws for Microsoft Windows

● To further support for screen reader and keyboard shortcut navigation, button actions that appear throughout the screens (for example, at the bottom of post boxes, + icons for adding elements such as page tabs, buttons with text labels) are now read by Jaws.

1.2 Branding with colors

There are many color options available for customizing SAP Jam to align with company and area branding. For existing companies and areas, all existing colors, whether customized, will remain as-is following this August 2017 release. For new companies created after the August release, colors default to a new color scheme. Hexadecimal values and their corresponding color always display. The SAP Jam Administrator Guide provides a complete list of default colors used before and as of the August 2017 release.

Color defaults and values ● For existing companies and areas that have all or partial custom color branding applied in the SAP Jam Admin console > Branding and Support > Web page, the hexadecimal values and corresponding colors from the color picker will remain is.

● For existing companies and areas that have no branding applied in the SAP Jam Admin console > Branding and Support > Web page, the original SAP Jam default colors will now display the hexadecimal value and corresponding color from the color picker.

● For new companies and their areas (created as of this release) that have no branding applied in the SAP Jam Admin console > Branding and Support > Web page, new SAP Jam default colors will now display the hexadecimal value and corresponding color from the color picker.

NoteThe default colors for newly created companies are different from the default colors for companies and areas created prior to this release.

Reset colors ● When you choose to reset colors on the Branding and Support > Web page, the colors will change to the new default colors listed in the second table of the Default SAP Jam color branding topic in the SAP Jam Administrator Guide. Those changes will only be applied when you click Save changes.

1.3 Branding with fonts and logos

The font applies to home page menu titles, group overview menu titles, and widget titles. The logo can appear in various places in the application.

Current font and deletion ● In the SAP Jam Admin console Branding Web section, as a company or area administrator you can now view the name of the current font applied to keyline and overview tabs.

NoteYou must click Save changes at the bottom of the page to save any changes or deletions.

Current logo and deletion ● In the SAP Jam Admin console, as a company or area administrator you can now view a thumbnail image of the current logo.

1.4 Conversion for deprecated widgets

Dynamic widgets for wiki pages and blogs posts are in the midst of deprecation. Group administrators will have the option to convert wiki pages and blog posts that use these widgets into group overview pages.

Please refer to the Feature deprecation [page 65] topic for the list of affected dynamic widgets.

Conversion to overview page

● As a group administrator, you can now click Convert to automatically convert a wiki page or blog post with one or more previously deprecated dynamic widgets to a new group overview page that is appended at the end (last tab on the right) of all other group overview pages. This allows for easier overview page maintenance and better rendering on mobile devices.

Figure 4: Convert a wiki page● After the conversion, you have the opportunity to edit the layout before publishing the new

overview page, which will also have a new URL. You can then manually delete the wiki page or blog post.

NoteMetadata for the wiki page or blog post such as description, tags, followers, thumbnails, and comments are not preserved after conversion.


1.5 Document cachingWeb caching speeds up the delivery of web content to end users. In a content distribution network, multiple servers can retain copies of content and video, at various points throughout the network for later retrieval.

Caching service ● Caching of content download and video streaming performance has improved.

● In the SAP Jam Admin console under Product Setup Feature Management as a company administrator you can enable or disable the "Enable document download via content delivery network (CDN)" service. When enabled, a third-party content delivery network is used to cache content to improve document download and video streaming performance.

● Globally distributed customers with offices distantly located from their SAP Jam Collaboration tenant data center host will experience significant performance improvements.

● Content items are cached on CDN when your users first download it.

1.6 Email notificationsWhen you click the Settings icon above the global menu bar and choose Account Settings from the drop-down menu, you can select Email to display the Email Settings page. On this page you can control when and how often you receive update emails from SAP Jam.

Feature Description

Formatting and content for web and mobile layouts

● In a group's weekly and daily digest email notification, the volume of entries has been refined to list the top three comments, content, and all upcoming events.

● The selected comments and content are based on what is most engaging and relevant to group members (e.g., most number of likes and views).

● Larger fonts, contrasting colors, and logo placement have also been modified to improve readability.

Forum topic subscription ● As a forum topic subscriber, you can now receive immediate email notifications for your subscribed topics. Under your Account settings > Email > High Priority settings, the Forum topic subscriptions checkbox is enabled by default so you can receive the email notifications when there is activity in topics you have subscribed to, in addition to bell notifications.

1.7 Knowledge base articles and templatesService agents and managers can use knowledge base articles to find the right information required by a customer at the right time, reducing call handle time, improving operational efficiencies, increasing customer

engagement, and reducing labor costs. Categories can be created for products and processes. New search capabilities allow service agents to track to right knowledge base article in the first search.

Feature Description

Create a custom knowledge base template

● As a group administrator, you can create custom templates so that articles have a structure that meets the standards and requirements of your team. You can design your own template or copy an existing template and customize it as needed.

Copy a knowledge base template

● As a group administrator, you can copy a knowledge base template to another group that you administer.

Feature Description

Edit a knowledge base template

● As a group administrator, you can edit a custom knowledge base template by adding, removing, and rearranging fields, or adding, modifying, and removing options for checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns.

and saved. When a group member edits an article that is based on a template that has been revised, they will see a message shown at the top of the article that says "The template for this article has been modified and may cause the article to display differently".

● When a group administrator edits a template that has at least one article created from it, they will see a message shown at the top of the template that says "Any changes made to this template will be applied to published articles once they are edited."

Delete a knowledge base template

● As a group administrator, you can delete custom templates. However, if there are published articles based on this template, then the template cannot be deleted.

Feature Description

Enable or disable a knowledge base template

● As a group administrator, you can choose whether to enable or disable custom or standard knowledge base templates for your group's Knowledge Base section.

Problem Resolution Template ● To support service delivery scenarios, a new out of the box "Problem Resolution Template" has been added. Article authors can describe symptoms, the environment, causes, resolution, and select an impact level.


Feature Description

Categories ● As a company administrator, you can create and edit up to a maximum of 15 categories for the knowledge base so that groups have a way to organize and improve discoverability of their articles.

categories if available, making it easier for others to find.

Formatting ● When writing knowledge base articles, knowledge base authors can now use a built-in rich text editor formatting toolbar to format text, improving readability and usefulness of articles.

Feature Description

Knowledge Base widget ● As a page designer working with group pages, you can now add a Knowledge Base widget to show knowledge base articles that are available to all group members. You can configure the widget's title, type, number of items to display, and tags.

Feature Description

Feedback ● As an SAP Jam user, you can provide quantitative feedback on a knowledge base article by selecting a one to five star rating to answer the question "How helpful was this knowledge base article?"

NoteIf the company administrator disables the "Enable Content Rating" option in the SAP Jam Admin console, the ability to provide feedback will not be available.

● The number of people who found an article useful also displays.

Feature Description

Bookmark ● As an SAP Jam user, you can bookmark individual knowledge base articles and access them from the Bookmarks page.

Copy a knowledge base article ● As an SAP Jam user, you can copy a knowledge base article within the same group to create new articles similar to the existing ones.

● For step by step instructions, see the Knowledge base articles topic in the SAP Jam User Guide.

Delete a knowledge base article

● If a group's collaboration level is set to Full and the knowledge base article permission is also set to Full, a non group administrator member of a group can delete an already published knowledge base article.

● Group administrators can delete existing knowledge base articles at any time.

Enable or disable knowledge base feature

● In the SAP Jam Admin console > Product Setup > Features > Feature Management, as a company administrator you can enable or disable the Knowledge Base feature, as well as the new Company-wide knowledge base option below it. The company-wide option allows SAP Jam users to see all knowledge base articles from all groups that they are members of by accessing the company Knowledge Base from the global menu bar. If disabled, the Knowledge Base cannot be accessed from the global menu bar.

● By default, the knowledge base feature is enabled for a group when the company setting for the knowledge base feature is enabled. As a group administrator, you can now enable or disable the availability of the knowledge base feature for your group when editing the group settings.

● As a group administrator, if you disable the knowledge base feature after knowledge base articles have been created and published for the group, the articles will no longer display in the group and company knowledge base. The company knowledge base continues to display unless disabled by the company administrator.

Feature a knowledge base article in content widget

● As a group administrator, you can feature a knowledge base article in a content widget on a group overview page.

● As a company administrator, you can feature a knowledge base article in a content widget on a company home page.

Filters for search ● When searching through the company Knowledge Base, you can now filter articles by Keyword, Author, Group, Tag, and Knowledge Base categories.

Images ● When writing knowledge base articles, knowledge base authors can include images inline with their text.

● When using the rich text editor to add text to an article, you can also paste, choose an existing image, or upload to embed images.

Feature Description

Item level permissions ● When setting group member permissions for knowledge base article access, authors can choose Full, Limited, or Hidden access to control view and edit capabilities.

● If the item level permission is set to Full, all group members can view hidden fields.● If the item level permission is set to Limited, only the author and group administrators

can view hidden fields.

Mirror an article to share relevant content with other groups

● When managing mirror settings, as a group administrator you can grant group members and/or other group administrators with permissions to mirror knowledge base articles.

Publish settings ● As a knowledge base article author, you can now choose the publishing and expiration dates for your article to help ensure timeliness and relevance of the knowledge base.

Tagging ● As an SAP Jam user, you can view and add tags to a knowledge base article to help other users discover it.


1.8 Groups and group dashboard

Groups are created in SAP Jam by group administrators as a means of bringing together people, data, best practices and content to collaborate on work and resolve business problems. They include a membership of users who can upload, create, or reference material specific to a department, project, or team. Group administrators can click Dashboard on the group's left side menu to view a usage dashboard that displays details for various activities within a group, from the previous four weeks to the previous 12 months.

Group dashboard collaboration score

● As of this release, collaboration scores on the group dashboard will begin to account for knowledge base article activities. Engagement includes views, likes, comments, and edits on knowledge base articles.

Group dashboard most engaging items

● The Most Engaging Items leaderboard now includes an option to filter by content types, including knowledge base articles.

during the selected time frame. For example, if no wiki pages have been viewed, liked, or commented on within the selected last 4 weeks period, then the "Wikis" filter does not appear in the filter drop-down.

Tags ● When a group's participation level is set to read-only or limited, only group administrators can add tags to content items.

1.9 Group templates

Group templates contain a professionally-designed overview page as well as placeholder content and group structure.

Event Coordination template

● To support a collaborative platform to engage attendees, improve key metrics, campaign success, and profitability after a large-scale business event, as a group administrator you can now use an Event Coordination template to create any type of event (e.g., product launch, technical conference, business auction, social gathering etc.)

● The first level tabs include Overview, Speakers' Area, Sessions, and Live from the Event pages.

Partner Enablement template

● To support external partners in effective sales enablement and repeatable service activities such as product training, demos, social media promotion, and customer references, you can now use a Partner Enablement template to create your private external partner sales enablement group.

● The first level tabs include Overview, Partner Program Info, Products, Customer References, Competitive Analysis, and How to Demo and Sell pages.

● To support internal sales and repeatable business processes such as product training, demos, social media promotion, and customer references, you can now use a Sales Enablement template to create your sales enablement group.

1.10 Messages

Messages for SAP Jam Collaboration and SAP Jam mobile app provide a quick and convenient way to converse with others within your company or with colleagues who do not have company provisioned emails. New messages appear in real-time and can include your colleagues, up to a maximum of thirty individual participants.

Feature Description

Enable messaging ● As an SAP Jam company administrator, you can enable or disable the Messages feature

in the SAP Jam Admin console under Product Setup Features Feature

Management .

NoteAs of this August 2017 release, the feature formerly referred to as "Private Messages" has been enhanced for multiple recipient participation (up to 30 people) including those who do not have company provisioned emails. If "Private Messages" was disabled prior to the August 2017 release, it will remain disabled for Messages. If it was enabled, any private messages that were not deleted will still be available for viewing within Messages.

● When enabled, a new messages icon displays above the global menu bar. This icon replaces the previous envelope icon.

Feature Description

Start a message thread with one or more participants

● As an SAP Jam user, from the left side panel of the Messages screen, you can start a message with one or more participants, up to a maximum of 30. As you type the first few letters of a participant's name, the a list of suggested matching recipients will appear, if available.

for the subject line is 50. As you type, the number of remaining characters appears on the right side of the subject line.

● After you click Create Message at the bottom of the left panel, it opens a new message panel on the right side. You can click the drop-down on the far right to add a participant, view the list of participants, rename the subject line of the message thread, or leave the message thread.

Delete your individual message within a thread

● On your individual message within a message thread, you can delete it by clicking the drop-down to the far right of your reply and selecting Delete.

Email notifications ● Under your Accounts Settings Email High Priority Emails , you can choose to receive an email notification when you are invited to a message thread.

NoteEmails are not sent for each subsequent message within a message thread.

Feature Description

Leave a multiple participant message thread

● You can leave a multiple participant message thread by clicking the drop-down at the top of the messages panel on the right and choosing Leave Message Thread. You'll be prompted to confirm whether you want to leave the message before you are officially removed.

● Once you've left a message, it no longer appears in your message viewer.● For participants that are still engaged in the message thread, they will see a notification

stating that you have left the message.

Images ● Within a thread, you can insert a png, gif, tiff, or jpeg image or photo from your local drive or browser. Images can be copied and pasted into a message thread, or uploaded. Only one image can be inserted at a time.

● You can delete your image from a message thread by clicking the drop-down to the right of your message and choosing Delete.

● When you click the image, a larger version of the image displays in a new desktop browser tab.

● Image size can be up to 5MB maximum.

Invite more participants after the start of a message thread

● To invite participants to a message thread after the messaging has started, go to the main panel on the top right side of the Message screen, click the drop-down and choose Add Participant. The Add line appears where you can type names of individual participants.

Latest message in message thread

● The first few words of the latest message of a message thread appears on the left side of the Messages window to help keep you up to date with the most recent activity in a message.

Feature Description

Message counts ● The number of unread messages that you have displays beside the messages icon above the global menu bar.

Message threads marked as read

● When you participate in or view a message thread, the blue circle that displays the number of unread messages within a thread no longer displays.

Message thread history ● As participation occurs within a message thread, individual and system messages are kept within the thread. Any current or future participant can view previous messages within the thread for reference or context.

Push notifications for webhooks

● The following Message event types were added for this release:○ MessageReceived○ AddedToConversation

Rename subject ● You can rename the subject for your multiple participant message thread by clicking the drop-down above the message and choosing Rename Subject. The maximum allowed characters for your subject is 50.

Send a message from hover card

● From an SAP Jam user's hover card, you can start a message thread with them by

choosing Actions Send a Message .

message viewer will open an existing message with your thread history rather than start a new, blank message thread.

System messages for important events

● Whenever you start a new message thread, invite a participant to a message thread, leave a message thread, and rename a message thread, an entry displays in the thread to inform all participants of these changes.

View participants ● You can view a list of participants for a message thread by clicking the drop-down above the message and choosing View Participants. Online presence for each participant is also indicated.

1.11 Mirroring and custom group templates

When posting the same document to two or more places within a single group or many groups, as a content creator, you can choose to "mirror", or make an identical copy of a single source content item (e.g., the original spreadsheet, presentation, image, video, wiki page, blog post, etc.). This saves you time especially when you need to make an update to the source content.

Customize group template with mirrored content

● As a company or area administrator, you can mark documents, wiki pages, and blog posts as "Mirror item" in a custom group template.

"Mirror item", that content will be mirrored instead of copied to the new group.

source document, all mirrored items are automatically updated for all groups. The source document resides in the custom group template.

1.12 Multiple language support for documents

SAP Jam now provides the ability to manage and publish documents that have translated copies to support other languages. This allows users to view documents in their preferred language when the published translation is available.

NoteIf you do not set the language of any existing documents, or bundle them, then there is no impact to your users. Depending on your team's needs, you can decide what documents require translations, if any.

Manage translations for document content type

● As a content author, group administrator, or translator, you can now upload a new or select an existing translated document (e.g., Microsoft Powerpoint, Word, PDF, etc.) and add it to a "document bundle" using the Manage Translations feature. Users will then automatically see the translated document for their preferred language, if available.

Set language for a document content type

● As a content author, group administrator, or translator, you can set a language on a new or existing translated document (e.g Powerpoint, Word, PDF etc.) By setting languages on documents, your users will automatically see translations filtered to their preferred language in a group and on the home page. If a document language is not set, it always displays regardless of a user's language preference.


Feature Description

Translation bundling ● By bundling translated documents together:○ an author or translator can ensure translations are up-to-date with respect to the original

document.○ a user can quickly find all available translations for a given document.○ a user can still see a default or "fallback" translation, even if their preferred translation is

unavailable. For example, if a bundle contains English, French, and Spanish translations, and English is set to the default, a user with any other language preference will see the English version.

● You can put a translated document into a bundle but not multiple bundles.● Every document in a bundle must have a language set, and the languages must be unique in a

bundle.● A bundle can contain only documents from the same group but they can be from different fold

ers.

1.13 Online presence and browser notifications

Knowing the online presence of a group member or colleague can help you decide when to engage with them. Online statuses display on profile pages, hover cards, and messages. When browser notifications are enabled, you can receive instant pop-up notifications whether you appear online or not.

Pop-up browser notifications ● Pop-up browser notifications display alerts on your desktop whether you are working within an SAP Jam browser or not. You can easily turn these notifications on or off through your avatar above the global menu bar.

your browser. You can choose to enable notifications now, choose a setting at a later time, or choose not to receive browser notifications from SAP Jam.

Notifications.● When your presence is set to Online and you have browser notifications enabled, if you

● If you initially clicked Get notified to receive notifications but later change your mind and no longer want to receive browser notifications, click your avatar and disable the toggle for browser notifications.

● When your presence is set to Online and you have notifications disabled, if you are viewing a browser tab other than the one displaying SAP Jam, your presence appears as offline.

1.14 Page design

With the page designer feature, you can add and organize the layouts in your group overview pages, are home pages, and custom home pages by using SAP Jam widgets in a page editor.

Feature Description

Mobile Settings - Show in Mobile toggle

● As a group, area, or company administrator responsible for designing page layouts to display content and information, you can now enable or disable widgets as needed for viewing within a single column on a mobile device. For example, for custom home pages viewed on a laptop browser, rotating banner widgets that use a larger amount of the screen may display better than they would than on the more compact screens of the SAP Jam mobile app or mobile browser. You could then disable the "Show in Mobile" toggle for the rotating banner widget.

Mobile Settings - Pin to Top ● As a group, area, or company administrator responsible for designing page layouts to display content and information, you can choose which widgets have top priority and should display near the top of the page for immediate visibility.

Preview in mobile mode ● As a group, area, or company administrator responsible for designing page layouts to display content and information, while in edit mode, you can now switch to a preview mode of the single column layout for mobile devices.

Image and rotating banner widgets

● To improve the visual spacing on custom home pages, area pages, and group overview pages, the image widget now has a new minimum acceptable height of 45 pixels and the rotating banner widget in custom home and area pages has a new minimum acceptable height of 270 pixels.

● You can also select the caption background opacity of the image.

1.15 Reports

SAP Jam reports display adoption metrics including user contribution and consumption activity. On the SAP Jam Admin console > Reports tab, on the list of requested reports, click the Microsoft Excel (which provides better support for double-byte languages) or csv icon to download the report. You can then upload the csv file to an analytics software and work with the data there. Most reports are available to Group Administrators for group-specific data.

Messages ● Messages provide a quick and convenient way to converse with others within your company or with colleagues who do not have company provisioned emails. New messages appear in real-time and can include other groups and colleagues, up to a maximum thirty groups and individual participants combined.

Navigation bread crumb in forum topics (iOS and Android)

● As an SAP Jam mobile user, when you view a question, idea, or discussion via a link from a notification email, a navigation breadcrumb displays to indicate which forum and group the topic belongs to. You can view and use breadcrumb links to see where you are within the application and quickly navigate back to specific pages, groups, or sub groups.

Pinned favorite groups ● As an SAP Jam mobile user, you can now drag and drop your pinned favorite group within the Favorites banner.

1.17 Search

At the top of every page, there is a filtered search tool available to you for browsing SAP Jam. A drop-down filter beside the text box helps you refine which areas of SAP Jam to search through.

● When filtering the search results page, you can now specify keywords in the Keyword text box.

● The left side navigation for search categories, time frames, and filter fields that appears on the Search page has been reorganized to display the updated filter fields section first, followed by search categories, and time frames.

Quick search ● When using the quick search feature above the global menu bar, the filter is automatically set to your current context when viewing a specific group's content or content folder, forums or forum topic, events, tasks, or knowledge base articles.

2 Feature availability

All features in this SAP Jam Collaboration release will be available to customers working with the preview release starting on Friday, August 4, 2017. The release will be available in production starting on Friday, September 8, 2017.

3 Feature deprecation

The following section lists the features that have begun deprecation in this release, will be fully deprecated in the next release, or are retired as of this release. When a feature is deprecated, enhancements to it cease and customers are advised not to use the feature.

Feature Description

Chats ● The chat feature has begun deprecation as of this release. If you continue to use this Chat service, you will be advised to use the new Messages feature instead.

● The deprecation notice "This chat service is being deprecated and will be removed in a future release. You can continue your chats by using the Messages feature instead." appears at the top of chat windows, in the chat pop-up, and on the Company Admin screen below the Enable Chat option.

Dynamic widgets embedded in wiki pages and blog posts

● Dynamic widgets including People, Feed, Content, Forum, Related Groups, Task, Event, and Business Record used within wiki pages and blog posts have been deprecated. Users can no longer add new instances of these widgets. Any widget that already exists in wikis and blogs today will continue to work, although users will be reminded to migrate the content to overview page or copy it elsewhere. All impacted widgets will be removed in a later release of SAP Jam.

● On wiki pages, as an administrator you will now see the following message with a Convert button: "This wiki contains widget(s) which have been phased out. Please take steps to convert the widget content into hyperlinks, move them to the group overview page, or delete them if no longer needed. The widgets will be automatically removed in an upcoming product release." When you click Convert, an overview page with the converted widgets appears in edit mode. This allows you to modify the page before you publish it, completing the wiki to overview page conversion.

● Group overview pages created and maintained using the wiki editor have been deprecated. All impacted pages will be removed in a later release of SAP Jam.

Error on 3rd party integrations email

● The Error Emails on 3rd party integrations (Google Docs, Twitter) high priority email has been deprecated as of this release.
