2 About SAP GTS, identity-basedpreference processing

SAP GTS is offering a solution, which enables companies to issue preference documents to their customers. Basisfor issuing such documents is a determination of a product’s preferential origin. The determination of a preferentialorigin has to be done according to officially provided criteria, which differs per commodity. The determination can bebased on a preferential statement received from a supplier or by calculating the origin based on a BoM. SAP GTS isdetermining the preferential origin on product level. In case a company is working with batches, serial or equipmentno., this determination may not be as accurate as required and hence does not offer the maximum possible benefit tothe company.

SAP GTS, identity-based preference processing addresses this issue and determines the preferential origin one levelbelow the product, for example, on batch. This enhancement considers multiple process steps within the standardpreference management process and considers that only parts of the product may require an origin determination onthis level while for other products, the standard process on product level may be sufficient.

With SAP GTS, identity-based preference processing, you are able to determine the preference status for a specificbatch (or any other indicator). With an identifier, the worst-case principle is not necessary and does not apply. Therefore, the actual preference status of the batch can be influenced by exchanging component batches. Moreover,as you are aware of the preference status per batch, you can deliver exactly those batches to your customers, whichthey demand.

In intercompany sales, this leads to reduced import duties to be paid by the company. In external sales, this leads tohigher margins respectively lower prices for the end customer and thus for an increased revenue.

6 Configuration Information

SAP GTS, identity-based preference processing relies on a customized preference management process in SAPGTS. For configuration details, please see the corresponding SAP GTS Configuration Guide for preferenceprocessing in SAP marketplace.

Besides SAP GTS configurations, you can perform the following SAP GTS, identity-based preference processingspecific configurations.

6.1 Configuration in SAP GTS, identity-basedpreference processing Plugin

6.1.1 Transfer of Goods Receipts for IBVD Creation

To create identity-based vendor declarations, you have to activate the document transfer of material documents(MM0C) in SAP GTS. To do so, go to SAP Implementation Guide -> Sales and Distribution -> ForeignTrade/Customs -> SAP Global Trade Services - Plug-In → Control Data for Transfer to SAP Global Trade Services→ Technical Activation of Document Transfer → Activate Transfer of Material Documents (MM0C).

Moreover, under SAP Implementation Guide → Sales and Distribution → Foreign Trade/Customs → SAP GlobalTrade Services - Plug-In → Control Data for Transfer to SAP Global Trade Services → Configure Control Settings forDocument Transfer, you have to add all relevant document types for reference application MM0C. The documenttypes must be activated for either customs management or the option Generate Worklist of Vendor-Based Long-TermVendor Declarations.

NoteYou do not have to activate the option Generate Worklist of Vendor-Based Long-Term Vendor Declarations,if you have activated the document type for customs management. Hence, you can define that a documenttype is not relevant for SAP GTS preference processing, but for SAP GTS, identity-based preferenceprocessing.

After setting the basis SAP GTS Customizing, you have to define the movement types that are relevant for creatingan identity-based vendor declaration under SAP Implementation Guide → Sales and Distribution → ForeignTrade/Customs → SAP Global Trade Services - Plug-In → Transfer of Goods Receipts → Define RelevantMovement Types.

Apart from these Customizing settings, the system checks the relevance via a BAdI, which you can implement under:SAP Implementation Guide → Sales and Distribution → Foreign Trade/Customs → SAP Global Trade Services -Plug-In → Business Add-Ins → BAdI: Relevance Checks for Goods Receipts. SAP GTS, identity-based preferenceprocessing delivers a fallback implementation with a standard relevance check. For more details, refer to thedocumentation for the Customizing activity in the system.

Page 16: SAP GTS, identity-based preference processing€¦ · Administrator’s Guide CUSTOMER SAP GTS, identity-based preference processing Administrator’s Guide – Version: 1.0 – Final

If you want to transfer ERP LTVDs to SAP GTS system so that they are used to default the preference status of theIBVDs, then implement the BAdI under SAP Implementation Guide → Sales and Distribution → ForeignTrade/Customs → SAP Global Trade Services - Plug-In → Business Add-Ins → BAdI: Provide ERP LTVDs forPreference Indicator Determination in GTS.

6.1.2 Transfer of Process Orders or Production Orders

For process orders and production orders, the following reference applications are added:

Order Category Reference Application

Production Order PP0A

Process Order PP0B

With Customizing activity under SAP Implementation Guide → Sales and Distribution → Foreign Trade/Customs →SAP Global Trade Services - Plug-In → Transfer of Orders → Define Settings for Order Transfer, you can define thetransfer settings per reference application.

You can activate the order transfer for specific plants and order types. At the order type level, you can also define thestatus that the order should have to be relevant for a productive transfer or a simulation run.

During the transfer, the system reads the documented goods movements of the order in order to determine the usedbatches. Hence, you have to define the movement types that should be considered for goods receipts and goodsissues.

The following Business Add-Ins are used in the transfer process. You can find them under SAP ImplementationGuide → Sales and Distribution → Foreign Trade/Customs → SAP Global Trade Services - Plug-In → Business Add-Ins.

BAdI: Relevance Checks for Goods Receipts

The transfer process is triggered by the creation of an order worklist entry based on a goods receipt for an order. Withthis BAdI, you can control the goods receipt items that are relevant for SAP GTS, identity-based preferenceprocessing.

BAdI: Relevance Checks for Bill of Material Items

During the transfer, a bill of material is built. With this BAdI, you can control the components that should be handledwith an identifier, for example, batch. If a component is considered relevant, the system tries to find a correspondingbatch for the component and sets the quantities and identifier accordingly.

BAdI: Change of Process/Prodn Order for BoMs Before Transfer to GTS

This BAdI is called after the system has built the bill of material and before it is transferred to the SAP GTS system. With this BAdI, you can change the complete bill of material.

6.1.3 Configuration of Preference Synchronization API

When an IBVD is saved or a product was calculated in SAP GTS, the new preference status is sent to SAP ERP.With the BADI under SAP Implementation Guide → Sales and Distribution → Foreign Trade/Customs → SAP GlobalTrade Services - Plug-In → Business Add-Ins → BAdI: Synchronize Preference Information from GTS with ERP, youcan implement your own solution to save the data. SAP GTS, identity-based preference processing comes with afallback implementation, which saves the data in batch attributes. If you want to use that solution, you have tomaintain the mapping of the API fields to the corresponding batch attributes using the Customizing activity under SAPImplementation Guide → Sales and Distribution → Foreign Trade/Customs → SAP Global Trade Services - Plug-In→ Define Mapping of API Fields to Batch Attributes.

If you want to store the preference status of multiple agreements in one batch, you have to create separate batchattributes for each agreement.

6.1.4 Preference Determination in Billing Documents

If you want the preference indicator to be determined based on the preference information in the batch, you have toimplement SAP Note 2375261 in the SAP ERP system. With BAdI under SAP Implementation Guide → Sales andDistribution → Foreign Trade/Customs → SAP Global Trade Services - Plug-In → Business Add-Ins → BAdI:Relevance Checks for SD Documents, you can control the billing document items for which the SAP GTS, identity-based preference processing specific logic should be executed.

6.2 Configuration in SAP GTS, identity-basedpreference processing Add-On

6.2.1 Preference Determination During VendorDeclaration Creation

When an IBVD is created, you can configure the system such that the system should look in different sources for apreference indicator. You can customize the sources and its sequence in a determination scheme. You can definethis in Customizing activity under SAP Implementation Guide → SAP GTS, Identity-Based Preference Processing →Preference Determination During Vendor Declaration Creation → Define Preference Indicator Determination.

Now, assign the determination scheme to an administrative unit via Customizing activity under SAP ImplementationGuide → SAP GTS, Identity-Based Preference Processing → Preference Determination During Vendor DeclarationCreation → Assign Determination Scheme to Administrative Unit.

If you have used the default value as the source option in your determination scheme, then you can assign a value tothe determination scheme in Customizing activity SAP Implementation Guide → SAP GTS, Identity-BasedPreference Processing → Preference Determination During Vendor Declaration Creation → Assign Default Value toDetermination Scheme.
