The Shipping Cockpit scans free staging areas in the required time slot of the transport units and assigns them to the deliveries. Other functions which relate to the goods receipt, the goods issue, loading and repackaging can be accelerated by the Shipping Cockpit.

SAP EWM 9.1: Labor Demand Planning

By the help of the new developed Labor Demand Planning, work requirements can be planned and illustrated graphically. In this case, Labor Demand Planning is based on existing information about completed picking and packing tasks (historical workload data sets). These data sets contain information about the execution time and the process steps. The graphical representation offers an overview of the period, the progress, the activities and the process. A quick selection is possible without entering lots of selection values.

SAP EWM 9.1: Dock Appointment Scheduling

The Dock Appointment Scheduling (DAS) provides numerous functionalities for efficient planning appointments of carriers and suppliers. The system uses master data to display and organize appointment scheduling close to reality. This enables to match advised loading docks and ramps, loading appointments as well as time slots. As central master data the loading point classifies a group of similar loading docks within the warehouse location. The loading point is defined by a unique combination of naming, address data and capacitive characteristics.

SAP EWM 9.1: Shipping CockpitThe Shipping Cockpit allows the automatic planning of transport units. The progress of the bearing

construction is always monitored and can be changed manually. Transport units can be allocated to

delivery orders according to size, weight, etc. In addition, planning activities for recurring shipments can

be automated (on regular routes). The Shipping Cockpit scans free staging areas in the required time

slot of the transport units and assigns them to the deliveries. Other functions which relate to the goods

receipt, the goods issue, loading and repackaging can be accelerated by the Shipping Cockpit.

Yard ManagementWith growing yard size management of vehicles is more complicated which leads to increased wait time.

Efficient Yard Management reduces wait time and increases the number of vehicles which can be processed in an

hour. EWM facilitates yard management, which contains vehicles, transportation units, doors and custom

parking lot structures. Finally stocks on vehicles can be taken into consideration for active warehouse processes.

TransportationTransportation Planning has gained importance when focus changed from an isolated into an integrated view of Supply Chains.

Page 2: SAP EWM 9.1

EWM takes this into account in different processes. EWM uses solely deliveries for external procurement and goods issue

processes, these deliveries are basis for putaway and retrival.

Deliveries can either be created manually or automatically, for example, by distributing documents from the ERP system. In addition

freight documents can be created and transit status can be documented in EWM Transportation

SlottingThe range of products and portfolio in stock are constantly changing in stock which makes it difficult to find the optimal storage each

individual product.

The functionality of Slotting integrated into EWM can automatically determine storage bins for efficient stock placement and

removal for products. Slotting allows determination optimal storage types, store sections and storage bin types. Various parameters

can be used to find the optimal storage bin. Many customers want ABC-classification in the picking area – which would be an

example from the field usage of slotting.

ReplenishmentPicking is usually done in some sections within a warehouse. Cost-effectively and efficient picking can when products to pick are

immediately available. Several replenishment strategies were integrated into EWM to achieve this.

With the different strategies of replenishment, EWM offers the ability to flexibly integrate replenishment into existing logistics

processes.

Replenishment can be defined at dynamically based on minimimun and maximum quantity, minimum replenishment quantity, at

fixed storage bin level or based on order quantity if other methods are inadequate.

Additionally it is possible to use fixed storage bins for picking areas. Replenishment strategies can be used as flexible as needed.

In addition individual requirements for replenishment strategies can be implement in EWM.

Besides great flexibility, different strategies allow to make the replenishment process cost minimal and more efficient.

Queued remote function calls (qRFCs) are used to communicate documents (deliveries, goods movements) and master data via the core interface (CIF) between ERP and EWM

UseAs of SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) 9.0, you can use SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling to plan vehicle

arrivals at your warehouse efficiently. This provides workload leveling for the warehouse, and more efficient planning for carriers, so

they can reduce the amount of time vehicles have to wait at warehouses.

SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling allows you to collaborate with the parties involved in an Appointment, for example, it allows

chosen carriers to plan their own appointments directly in your system. This helps to prevent bottlenecks at the warehouse where

vehicles arrive but there are no available docks or staff and they must wait. It also helps the carriers to plan their transport more

efficiently.
