(Parts of a Flower)
“Every Flower part serves some purpose in the making of seeds. The colorful, fragrant petals and other parts of it.”
A flower beauty and perfection of form maybe enjoyed more fully if one understand its structure and how its
part helps in the work of seed making. A typical flower has four sets of organs. From the outside to the center, they are: sepals, petals, stamens, and pistils. The leaf
like sepals make up the calyx, or “cup”. The petals fprm the corolla, or “little crown.”

PISTIL-
PISTIL-----A flower may have one or more pistils which consist of a basal portion called the ovary
which contains the embryo seeds called ovules and area where the pollen is received called the stigma.
Often the stigma may be borne on a stalk like structure called the style. The pistil consist of ovule-bearing basic units called carpels. Collectively, the
carpels form the gynoecium which is sometimes referred to as the female part of the flower because
the carpels produce the female gametes, but are sometimes incorrectly called female, the correct
term is carpellate.
SEPAL----- Usually green , sepals typically function as protection for the flower in bud, and often as support for the petals when in bloom,it is an effective protection against some kinds of birds and insects is a part of the flower of angiosperms(flowering plants). Collectively the sepals are called the calyx, the outer most whorl of parts that form a flower, a cup or a goblet.
STAMEN-----(plural stamina or stamens, from Latin stamen meaning “thread of the wrap”) is the pollen producing reproductive organ of a flower . stamens typically consist of a stalk called filament. Anthers are most commonly two- lobed and are attached to the filament either at the base or in the middle portion. The sterile tissue between the lobes is called the connective.
PETALS----- are modified leaves that surround the reproductive parts of a flowers. They are often brightly colored or unusually shaped to attract pollinators. Together , all of the petals of a flower are called a corolla, petals are usually accompanied by another set of special leaves called sepals lying just beneath the corolla. When the petals and sepals of a flower look similar they are called tepals.
