“No hay amor mas grande que dar la vida por los amigos”. (Juan 15,13) “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”. (John 15:13)

La Organización Mundial de la Salud declaró hoy que el coronavirus se ha convertido en una pandemia, esto después de que el número de casos fuera de China se haya multiplicado por 13 en dos semana y en ese periodo los países afectados se hayan triplicado. El coronavirus ha infectado a más de 120.000 personas en el mundo, en 116 países, de las cuales unas 4.200 han muerto. Italia es el epicentro de la epidemia en Europa, con 12.462 pacientes, 1045 personas curadas y 827 muertos. La conmovedora oración del papa Francisco a la Madre de Dios recuerda el gesto con el que Pío XII, el 11 de junio de 1944, en la iglesia de San Ignacio, pidió a la Virgen del Divino Amor la protección y la salvación durante la retirada de las tropas nazis. “Que esta Roma con su dura experiencia de tantas desgracias tenga luz y fuerza para una mejor vida personal, familiar, colectiva, y, a tu merced, vuelva como ejemplo al pueblo de la verdadera civilización cristiana por la fe, vivida en obras de justicia y amor humilde“, invocó el Papa Pacelli.

La oración de Francisco a la Virgen María:

Oh María, tu resplandeces siempre en nuestro camino como signo de salvación y de esperanza, Confiamos en ti,

Salud de los enfermos, que junto a la cruz te asociaste al dolor de Jesús, manteniendo firme tu fe.

Tú, salvación del pueblo romano sabes lo que necesitamos y estamos seguros de que proveerás para que,

como en Caná de Galilea pueda volver la alegría y la fiesta después de este momento de prueba.

Ayúdanos, Madre del Divino Amor, a conformarnos a la voluntad del Padre y hacer lo que nos diga Jesús que ha tomado sobre sí nuestros sufrimientos y se ha cargado con nuestros dolores para

llevarnos, a través de la cruz a la alegría de la resurrección. Amén.

Bajo tu amparo nos acogemos, santa Madre de Dios; no deseches las oraciones que te dirigimos en nuestras necesidades, antes bien

Tercer domingo de Cuaresma Cuando Jesús le pidió a la mujer samaritana un trago de agua, ella abrió la puerta para relación que cambia la vida con él. La escritura dice que su testimonio atrajo a muchos otros a El también. Nosotros también debemos estar preparados para responder cuando y donde el Señor hable. ¡A nosotros y prepárense para que Su mensaje cambie nuestras vidas! Third Sunday of Lent When Jesus asked the Samaritan woman for a drink of water, she opened the door for a life changing relationship with Him. Scripture says her testimony drew many others to Him as well. We, too, must be ready to respond whenever and wherever the Lord speaks to us and be prepared for His message to change our lives!

MEDITACIÓN EVANGÉLICO - ENTENDIMIENTO MÁS PROFUNDO DE LA ESCRITURA En este tercer Domingo de Cuaresma, Jesús es el pozo de agua viva que guía a la mujer samaritana a profundizar en el Espíritu y en la verdad. También, guía a los discípulos a profundizar en su misión para recibir la cosecha que ya está lista. Alabanza, misión y creer que Cristo es el camino hacia la vida eterna. ¡Todos, este Domingo necesitamos de tomar de esa agua viva que es Cristo! “Señor, dame de esa agua, y así ya no sufriré la sed ni tendré que volver aquí a sacar agua.” (Juan 4:15) El Papa Francisco nos ilumina con la siguiente homilía: “Jesús, habla de un agua diversa…el agua que dona la vida eterna fue infundida en nuestros corazones en el día de nuestro bautismo, ahora Dios nos ha transformado y llenados de su gracia. Pero puede darse que hayamos olvidado este gran don, o reducido a un mero dato, y quizá vamos en busca de ‘pozos’ aunque no nos sacian la sed. [El Evangelio es para nosotros.] Jesús nos habla como a la samaritana. Ciertamente nosotros ya lo conocemos, pero quizá no lo hemos acogido personalmente, y no lo hemos todavía reconocido como nuestro Salvador. Este tiempo de Cuaresma es la ocasión buena para acercarse a él, encontrarlo en la oración en un dialogo corazón a corazón, ver su Rostro en el rostro de un hermano o de una hermana sufriente. De este modo podemos renovar en nosotros la gracia del bautismo, saciarnos en la fuente de la Palabra de Dios y de su Santo Espíritu, es así descubrir la gloria de convertirnos en artífices de reconciliación instrumentos de paz en la vida cotidiana.” ¿Qué piensas de esta homilía del Papa? VIVIR LA LITURGIA - INSPIRACIÓN DE LA SEMANA “¿Está el Señor entre nosotros o no?” ¿Alguna vez te has encontrado haciéndote esta pregunta? Hallar la presencia de Dios y tener un encuentro verdadero con Dios no siempre son tareas fáciles. Cuando buscamos a Dios solo con nuestras mentes, corremos el riesgo de reducir a Dios a una simple idea en lugar de encontrarlo como alguien real y realmente presente para nosotros. Todos tenemos que luchar con quiénes somos y lo qué le da un propósito y un significado a nuestras vidas. A menudo, podemos confundirnos y entender mal no solo quiénes somos, sino quién es Dios. Incluso los discípulos y la mujer samaritana en el pozo perdieron el punto que Jesús estaba tratando de hacer. Solo hay una persona que puede satisfacer los anhelos y añoranzas más profundos de nuestros corazones. Solo Jesús puede llevarnos a la verdad y proporcionar el agua que puede saciar nuestra sed. Cada uno de nosotros, no solo con la cabeza sino también con el corazón, debe llegar a ver que Jesús es el Salvador del mundo. GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE We give the definition of ourselves over to so many things. We allow our society, friends, family, work, social groups, ethnicity, and even institutions define, classify, and color how we perceive ourselves. When we listen predominantly to the voices of others, we lose touch with what is happening within our own inner voice. If we listen carefully within, we can easily discover that we are in want and need. We know our incompleteness and also know that loneliness, sadness, and self-images can propel us outward in attempts to fill those gaps. We can become not only victims of our own prejudices but can find ourselves overly self-indulgent in things that can only satisfy for a short time, if at all. It is no wonder that money and power are things that are so fervently sought after. As long as we can keep a steady supply going, the illusion of fulfillment and satisfaction can falsely persuade us as craftily as a master magician’s act. We live with illusions not truth. It is no wonder, then, that some of the wealthiest folks are also really the unhappiest. Whether we admit it, the lies we live and pursue will ultimately expose our superficiality. We all have to wrestle with who we are and what gives our lives purpose and meaning. Learn to listen more deeply, not to what others are saying about you, but to what God is echoing in your heart. We can easily get confused and misunderstand, not only about who we are but who God is. Even the disciples and the Samaritan woman at the well missed the point Jesus was trying to make. There is only one Person who can satisfy the deepest yearnings and longings of our hearts — Jesus the Messiah. It is not the work of corporate America that will lead us to happiness or greatness but the work of the soul. We continue to resist acknowledging this and are happier in our world of misunderstanding and illusion. The life-giving water we truly need doesn’t come from the source of a well but from the Source of Life. Only God can reveal the truth of our sinfulness, the superficiality of our pursuits, and the illusions we hold so dear. Only Jesus can save us from ourselves and give us what we really need. If only our heads can catch up with where our hearts know they need to be, then will we find real contentment and life! LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK “Is the Lord in our midst or not?” Have you ever found yourself asking this question? Finding God’s presence and truly encountering God are not always easy tasks. When we seek God only with our minds, we risk reducing God to simply an idea rather than meeting him as someone who is real and actually present to us. We all have to wrestle with who we are and what gives our lives purpose and meaning. We can often get confused and misunderstand not only who we are, but who God is. Even the disciples and the Samaritan woman at the well missed the point Jesus was trying to make. There is only one person who can satisfy the deepest yearnings and longings of our hearts. Only Jesus can lead us to truth and provide the water that can quench our thirst. Each of us, not only with our heads but with our hearts, must come to see that Jesus is the Savior of the world. It is only when we can honestly make this confession that we will know God is truly present. QUESTIONS OF THE WEEK - WE INVITE TO ALL PARISHIONERS TO REFLECT AND RESPOND TO SCRIPTURE First Reading Early in their 40-year desert journey, the frustrated Israelites tested God by grumbling to Moses, “Is the Lord in our midst or not?” How do you see our contemporary society testing God today? Second Reading Paul speaks boldly of the “peace of God” and the “love of God” achieved through Jesus’ willingness to die for us. How has your Lenten journey exposed you to the peace and love of God? Gospel Reading Jesus revealed himself as the Messiah to the Samaritan woman. Why do you think Jesus chose her for this revelation? ©LPi


The Woman at the Well

Scripture: Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4: 13-14

Most of you probably play some kind of sports. Raise your hand if you play sports. What kind of sports do you play?Whether you play sports or just play hard, you know that when you’re exercising, it’s very important to take in plenty of liquids. The question is: What kind of liquids should you drink? Ordinary water, of course, is a good choice, but when you go to the store, the shelves are full of all kinds of sports drinks, energy drinks, and flavored water. It’s hard to know what’s best. The advertisement for one popular brand of sports drink says, "It's better than water, juice, or any other drink. It gives your body what it is thirsty for! It gets you going and keeps you going." Wow! They have me convinced, but one thing I’ve noticed: In all the claims made by sports drinks, not once have they ever claimed that if you would drink their product, you would NEVER be thirsty again. If somebody had something that would do that, they would really have so-mething, wouldn't they? Well, Jesus claimed to have that very thing! One day Jesus was walking through a town in Samaria. He was hot and tired so he sat down beside a well to rest. A woman came to the well to get some water (pause) and Jesus asked her if she would give him a drink. The woman was surprised that Jesus spoke to her because Jews would not usually speak to Samaritans. Jesus told her that He could give her living water!

She didn’t understand what He was talking about so she said, "You don't even have anything to get water in, how can you give me living water?"

Then Jesus said, "Whoever drinks from the water from this well will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst again."

Wow! Water that would satisfy your thirst so you would never be thirsty again! Jesus wasn't talking about our thirst for water from a well. He was talking about our thirst for God. The Bible teaches us that we have a thirst in our heart for the living God. And that is a thirst that only Jesus can satisfy. So when we have Jesus in our heart, He satisfies our thirst for God and we will never thirst again! Jesus is life! Drink it up!

Dear Lord, You have given us Jesus, the Living Water. May we drink of Your Living Water so we will never thirst again. In Jesus’ name, amen.
