markets, but this plan offers multiple investments

benefits ofoffshore investing
investing away from your owncountry of residence can have significant benefits, with many people choosing Bermuda
Estate planning
It is important to know that future
generations will be provided for
with the wealth you have
accumulated. Offshore investing
via a trust structure allows the
beneficiaries designated by you to
receive your assets without going
through a possibly lengthy and
expensive probate.
Trust Participation
Investments are held by a sub-trust formed in
Bermuda on behalf of each investor, which
ensures that all investments will be safeguarded
and governed by applicable Bermuda law.
Each sub-trust is a separate legal entity, and as
such, its assets are effectively insulated from
the general creditors of the trustee or other
sub-trusts.
Beneficial transfer of assets
As investments are held by a trust through a trustee, confidentiality is protected, while
the power to designate a beneficiary remains in the hands of the plan holder.
Asset protection
Assets in the plan are linked to a segregated account. The ability to maintain assets in
a segregated account can be a very valuable tool as it insulates the assets from
creditors of the company and other segregated accounts.
Stability
It is important to know that investments in the Plan are held
in sub-trusts governed by the laws of Bermuda, a politically
stable jurisdiction recognized as a premier blue-chip
international business center.
The Bermudian trust and financial services industry goes
back almost one hundred years. Their deep and wide
experience helps investors from around the world.
The business environment is particularly well-attuned to the
finance sector as a result of the island’s long-term policy of
promoting itself as an international financial centre,
accompanied by a well-developed regulatory structure,
including the Bermuda Monetary Authority (the regulator of
Bermuda's financial services sector).
Bermuda has followed Western European standards In
terms of its business and communications infrastructure.
The financial security and political and economic stability of
Bermuda, allows investors the opportunity to diversify the
location of their assets in times of economic and
geopolitical risk.

SMR FundWe understand it is important for clients to have a clear understanding of the amount their investment
is at risk of losing and for them to have the comfort that there is a systematic process in place that aims
to prevent further major losses.
With that in mind, the Sanlam Smooth Portfolios were created to provide clients with global equity
exposure with 2 risk management strategies built in.
1. Floors – aims to prevent the Portfolio’s value from declining past predetermined levels
2. SMR – aims to reduce volatility and the impact of significant and sustained market declines
The differentiation in the Portfolios is based on “Floors”.
Two Risk Management Strategies CombinedWhat this means is that in declining markets clients will benefit from 2 risk management strategies – to
defend their investment – that can reduce equity exposure to below 10%, while in rising markets the
Portfolios can be up to around 95% exposed to equities.
SMR Select allows you to choose from a wide array
of funds from some of the world’s leading asset
managers to provide equity exposure with an SMR
overlay.
Clean share class funds
Funds in the SMR Select option are “clean share
class” funds (i.e., no trail fee), typically resulting in
a lower annual management charge (AMC) than
other share classes.

It’s not a word you’ll find in any dictionary; it’s a simple description of
what we do and what we believe in.
It’s an attitude. An ethos.
An understanding that nothing worthwhile can ever be hurried.
It’s a promise that we’ll never be afraid of good old fashioned hard
work; that there are no short cuts that don’t cut you short and that
when there is work to be done it’s worth doing very, very well.
And whilst we want to do well we also want to do good, because how
much money we make will never be the sole measure of our success.
It’s diligently focusing on our own trade, which is turning clients’
money into meaning.
Whether it’s a lot or very little; to make it work and make it work hard
so that it can be transformed into something more.
And we do it with great pride.
This is what makes us
Our work is never done.
