Sandvik DE140 compact core drill

Technical specificaTion

The DE140 is a compact and powerful drill rig that has

been design to meet requirements for deeper and larger

holes without compromising the size. DE140 features a pull

and push capacity of 10 tones. DE140 has a MaxTorque

control and direct feed and is well suited for surface and

underground exploration drilling, geotechnical drilling and

medium diameter raise boring. DE140 for underground

use is powered by either a 55 kW or 90 kW Power Unit.

For surface use 92 kW or 147 kW Diesel Power Packs. The

MaxTorque control enables optimal balance of torque and

rotation speed.

lifT capaciTy

Lift capacity is based on feedback from field operatives and

can be reasonably expected with vertical, water filled holes,

by a well-trained drilling crew using high quality drilling

tools. Sandvik cannot guarantee that these results will be

achieved in all drilling conditions.

Practical up-drilling capacity is about 50% of capacity in

holes vertical down.

Drill uniT

Standard version is made of very stiff and torsion resistant

steel profile. The feed boom is mounted on a frame with

hydraulic tilt cylinder and mechanical supports.

The new type of hydraulic feed cylinder from Sandvik gives

the drill a very high push and pull capacity in relation to its

size.

The mounting frame for the underground version is spe-

cially designed for easy setting-up when fan drilling and has

a full range adjustment from vertical down to vertical up.

Positioning is simplified by a mechanical feed boom posi-

tioner allowing a telescoping of 1 - 2 m (3 - 6’) depending

on feed boom length.

The Rod holder closes automatically by the gas accumulator

and opens hydraulically. Rod holder and Chuck work with

inverted action which means that the Rod holder opens

when the Chuck closes and vice versa (except for “Big

Jaw”). Exchangeable rod guides and jaws for standard drill

rods, casing and core barrels.

Speed is infinitely variable between zero – max rpm.

Chuck is closed by spring action and opened hydraulically.

Exchangeable rod guides and jaws for standard drill rods

and casing.

A high torque assembly is available for the N-head for cases

where extra high torques are required. The rpm can be

varied between 0 and 280 rpm and gives a maximum torque

of 1900 Nm.

The panel weighs 3 kg (6,6 lb), is mounted on a tripod and

can easily be moved to a suitable position in the vicinity of

the drill. From the “ROD RUNNER” the operator controls

the rod running up and down the hole as well as make up of

the rods. Especially suited for one-man operations.
