Ialwayshavethishiddencuriositytoexploremysurroundings,especiallywhenIenterinanyspace.SinceIremember,Ilikelookinghowthingsarerelatedtoeachother;colors,materials,walls,doorsanddecor,butmymindkeepsaskingme:howandwhocouldcreatethisphysicalspace?Whatinspiredthemtobuildsuchauniqueroom?

Well,nowthatIfoundmypassionininteriordesign,andasIlearninnovativetechniquesandexploremycreativitywithnewprojects,Iunderstandevenmoreaboutthoseplacesthatonetimegotmyfullattention.

AsIpracticedesign,IhavefoundthatinsomewayIhavestartedtodevelopmyownstyle;beinginspiredbyancientarchitecture,mosaics,sculpturesandelementsthatwhereusedbytheRomansandtheGreeks.Ialsofeelattachtotheoldbut,Ilovethenewtrendsandmodernstylestoo.

Ialwaysthinkthatwe"can'tforgetwherewearecomingfrom".Wearewhowearetodaybecauseofourancestors.Itwasthen,whenIstartedconnectingtheoldwiththenew,witheitherarchitectureorideas,andmakingitcurrentwithmaterialsandfinishes.Thereisaparticularinteriordesignerthathasinfluencedmydesigns:BenjaminOrtiz.Hisphilosophyis"Emotionisalwaysabetterguidethanintellectwhenitcomestocreatingarichlysatisfyingenvironment".

Inthatsameway,IstartedlookingatinteriordesignerKellyWearstler'swork.Herdesignphilosophymakessensetome:"Therearenorulesininteriordesign.Itakerisk,andIbelieveyoucandoanythingthatyourbrainandyourimaginationcancreate".

willserveasanupscaledestination,withanairofsophisticationandsensualstyle.

Thenewloungewillbeanexclusivegatheringplaceintendedtostimulatethesensesof

taste,sightandsound.AtCuriouser,guestswillexperienceitswhimsicalatmosphere

thatwillteaseandengagefantasywithreality.

FINALFLOORPLANTomeetthisfinalfurnitureplan,thekitchenandadministrationweremovetothebasementofthebuildingandexcludefromthecontract.Thenewlayoutnotonlyunifiesthetwofloorswiththeglasselevatorinthecenterofthebuilding,butalsoprovidesasophisticatedandfunctionalspace.

Location:WestHollywood,CA,twostories.Existingsq.footage:withfirstandsecondlevel,4500sq.ft.

Thispreliminarysectionofthebuildingwasdonetoexplorehowthetwofloorscanflowtogether.

Astheconceptstatementiscreated,ideasaboutthefunctionofthespacestartgettingintopaperwithbubblesanddiagrams.BelowsomesamplesofthefirstbubblesdoneforCuriouser,showingthetravelpathandcirculationofthespace.

Anothersampleofworkinprogressisshowingbelow.OneofthebiggestchallengeforthespaceplanningofCuriouserwastheplacementofthestairstomeetCalifornia'sbuildingcodes.

This unique tea & champagne lounge will fulfillthe desires and needs of the wealthy self-lovedcharacters from all the surrounding areas ofHollywood,anditwillserveasanupscaledestinationwithanairofsophisticationandsensualstyle.Thenew lounge named: Curiouser will be an exclusivegathering place intended to stimulate the sensesoftaste,sightandsound.AtCuriouser,guestswillexperienceitswhimsicalatmospherethatwillteaseandengagefantasywithreality.

CONCEPT DESIGNDEvELOPMENT

The Italian couple Rosanna and Carlo Di Francois planning to build in 2012 a new lounge, withapproximately 4,500 sq. ft., to be located inWestHollywood,California.

TheybothenjoythefabulousandexcitinglifestyleofLosAngelesandHollywood.Ithasbecomeoneofthemainplaceswhere theyspendmostof their time,sinceMr.DiFrancoisawriterandMrs.DiFrancoafashiondesigner.

They always dreamed of having their own loungeandafter researchingmany of their options, theydecidedtocreateatea&champagnelounge,thatnotonlyallowsthevisitorstoexperiencethecharmlifeHollywoodcanoffer,butalsotodesignaspacethatcanblendillusionandrealityinplace.

The couple is very eager to have this new loungedesignwith their own taste and have their ideasandfantasiesexploredinthisnewvenue.

Theprojecthasbeenscheduledtobecompletebyfall2012andTheDiFranco'sareopenwiththebudget to create a lavish and uniquedesign thatreflectstheirvisionandpassion.

Thiswasexactlypartoftheideatoworkwithdifferentscalefactor.Thebigvaseisanothersampleoflargerstructure.TheflooringwasanotherpartofthedesignthatwasinspirebyAliceinWonderland,byusingeitherrandomtilesizesandcolors,orbyapplyingcheckerboardidea.

Tounifythetwofloorsandcreatethewhimsicalatmospherethatwillteaseandengagefantasywithreality,scaleoffurniture,architectureandceilingheightswerestudy.Asshownabove,thewaitersisastallastheclubchair,butalsocomparewiththecolumninthecenter,sheappearssmalleratthesametime.

Karada, a Japanese term meaning health, will be anactive senior community. One that will empower theindividual andpromotea healthy lifestyle. Thisway oflifewillbebalancedwiththeSereneinspirationsofthesurroundinggardensandtrailsthroughtheuseofcolorandmaterials.

Karadawillprovideaholisticapproachtoactiveseniorliving.TheuseofEasternandWesterntherapieswillbeused inordertoachievecompletebalancedwell-beinginour residents.The interiorwill feelas ifone is inagarden or courtyard, using natureasa strongaspectofhealing.

Last,theinfluenceofJapaneseandmodernarchitectureanddesignwillhelpdefinethespaceintermsoffunctionandaestheticalvalue.

The lightingwill play an special touch for thedesign, thatwill resemble the boldcolorsthatareathroughoutthespace,aswellasthefabricandfinishesselected.

ThedesignideaforAquaSpawillbeinspirebythehistoricalarchitecture,mosaicsandcolorsofPompeii,andwillblendtheoldandthenewtocreateamodernandclassicHolisticSpaformultiplesclerosispatients.The space will have mainly a warm color palette, from natural stones like thetravertineflooring,texturewallsandcolumns,inadditiontomaterialandfinishesingeneral.Red,goldandsilverwillbeaddedtothecolorschemetoaccenteitherwalls,orupholstery.SincePompeiicolorsareveryrich,theideaistousethemasanaccent,especiallyinactiveareaslikelobbyandlounge.Forthepoolareaforinstead,morerelaxing,mosaicswillbeapplyoncertainwalls,fountainsandpool.Thecolorschemewillhelptodefineareasforthepatientsasawayoffinding,withoutinterruptingtheirdesireandneedtorelax.Lightingwillplayakeyroletooinkeepingtheeyemovingthroughoutthespaceanddirectingtheattentiontosculpturesandmosaicsintheactiveorrelaxingareas,thatalsowillbeachievewiththeuseofdifferent layersof lighting.Theuseofindirectlighting,incombinationwiththenaturalsurroundings,architecture,colorsandmosaics,aswelloftherichmaterialandfinishes,willhelpthisopenspacetobecomeanuniquegetawayfornewpatients,whiledoingtreatmentsorrelaxing.

Thenaturallightisakeysincethedesignofthespaceismeanttomakethepatientsfeelliketheyareoutdoors.Tocreatethissophisticatedspace,yetrelaxing,differentlayersoflightingwillbeapplying.Forgenerallighting,recessedwithcompactfluorescentlampwillbeplaceinmostofthespaces,proximally89%ofthespace,becauseofitseasytomaintainandlastlonger.Accentlightingwillkeeptheattentiontotheartwork,sculpturesandmosaicswithinthespace,andwillgivethesparksidetoo.Wallwasherfixtureswillbeplaceindifferentareas,toeitheraccentthewallcolor,treatment,orjustasavisualeffect.

Anotherformoflightingthatwillbeuseinthespaceiscovelighting.Theselightingfixtureswillbeplaceinallthemassagerooms,officeareaandinthemainlobby.Forexampleinthemassageroomthecovelightingwillbeinadimmerallowingthemassagetherapisttocontroltheatmosphere,andutilizethemaximumamountoflightingtocompleteothertasks.Manyskylightfixtureswillbeinstallingabovethepoolareaceilingtomimicthedaylight,alsowithdimmertokeepcontrolwiththearea,oruseasneeded.Lastly,decorativelightingwillcomplementthedesignconcept,withsmoothorshinnyfinishes,alsoitwillhelptounifythespacebyeitherrepeatingofresemblingthefixtures.

TheprofessionalcouplevedandShaljahGupta,areplanningtomovein2010totheirnewhomelocatedinScottsdale,Arizona.vedisa50yearoldCPAwhoownshisbusinessandShaljahis48yearsoldwhoworksasarealestatelawyerforasmallfirminPhoenix.AsTheGupta'senjoyentertainment,theyalsoliketoworkfromhome.veidlikestowatchsportingevents,andisagolferwhenhecanfindthetime.WhenShaljahisafitnessenthusiast,wholovestoworkoutwithweightsandwalk.Thecoupleisveryexcitedtohavethisnewhomedesignwiththeirowntasteandenjoytheirbusylifestyle.FortheGupta,familycentersonfoodandcooking.Theyloveentertainingandwineisoneoftheirfavorite passion. Every year they go to Napa California to winetasteandpurchasewinefortheirextensivecollection.Theybelongtoagourmetgroupthatmeetseverymonthatamember'shometoprepare,eatandsharerecipes.Allthesehobbiestheywouldliketobeincorporateinthedesign.

TheGupta'shavea largecollectionofart includingmanypaintingsandglasspieceswhichtheywanttohighlydisplayintheirnewhome.Asanaddition,TheGupta'ssharetheirhomewithtwofurryfamilymembers.Napaisaschnauzerandpoodlemixwhothinksthatsheowns the place and Chablis is a calico mix cat. They both enjoyweekly,inhome,petgrooming

ForthedesignofthisnewhomeTheGupta'swanttokeepinmindtherelevanceofnatureanditisveryimportantforthemtoreducestress,outsidepressuresandtohaveagetawayatmosphereintheirownhome.

The project has been schedule to be complete by fall 2010 andTheGupta'sareopenwiththebudgettocreatealavishanduniquedesignthatreflectstheirpassion.
