WORDS OF MANAGING DIRECTOR Dear Colleagues, The year 2014 was a challenging one for met-coke industries as well as steel & mining sector in India. Major constraints were availability of raw materials linkages and availability together with inadequate infrastructure. Met-coke industry was further impacted by China exporting coke at below cost hurting Indian coke producers. The team at Visa SunCoke accepted the challenges and came up with new strategies to improve cost, efficiency and productivity. The measures undertaken have already started yielding results specially during the last quarter. The new Industrial policy adopted by Government of India has opened up the Iron & Steel sector for private investment by removing it from the list of industries reserved for public sector and exempting it from compulsory licensing. Imports of foreign technology as well as foreign direct investment are freely permitted up to a certain limits under an automatic route. The overall outlook for the steel sector is positive and the demand is likely pick up in the next financial year. India is currently the world’s fourth largest producer of crude steel after China, Japan and USA. Going forward, now with the expected improvement in the Iron-Ore&Coal-Mining sector. The Met-coke, Iron & Steel sector in India should show good growth in 2015. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you all and your family a very Happy New Year. Mr. Surendranath Rao

WORDS OF MANAGING DIRECTORDear Colleagues,

The year 2014 was a challenging one for met-coke industries as

well as steel & mining sector in India. Major constraints were

availability of raw materials linkages and availability together

with inadequate infrastructure. Met-coke industry was further

impacted by China exporting coke at below cost hurting Indian

coke producers.

The team at Visa SunCoke accepted the challenges and came up with new strategies to improve

cost, efficiency and productivity. The measures undertaken have already started yielding results

specially during the last quarter.

The new Industrial policy adopted by Government of India has opened up the Iron & Steel sector

for private investment by removing it from the list of industries reserved for public sector and

exempting it from compulsory licensing. Imports of foreign technology as well as foreign direct

investment are freely permitted up to a certain limits under an automatic route. The overall outlook

for the steel sector is positive and the demand is likely pick up in the next financial year. India is

currently the world’s fourth largest producer of crude steel after China, Japan and USA.

Going forward, now with the expected improvement in the Iron-Ore&Coal-Mining sector. The

Met-coke, Iron & Steel sector in India should show good growth in 2015. I would also like to take

this opportunity to wish you all and your family a very Happy New Year.
