HOSPITALITYANDTOURISMIn order to meet the high demand in the coming years for quality skilled workers in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry, Sandalwood Heights Secondary School is excited to offer this unique program. The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Hospitality and Tourism at SHSS involves students completing a package of 9 courses that meet the needs of all students with an interest in developing the skills necessary for a career in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry. The Hospitality and Tourism Industry acknowledges and supports the program through certification and appropriate industry placements.

In order to complete a SHSM in Hospitality and Tourism students must: 1. Complete a package of 9 specific courses (see chart below).2. Obtain Industry Certification.3. Obtain job experience (e.g. Co-op work experience, job shadowing, job twinning).4. Document the industry essential skills using the Ontario Skills Passport.5.
