San Diego…At its FINEST!
By: Whitney Russell
An explanation… Because we are all impoverished
students, I thought that it would be beneficial to compile a list of San Diego’s finest hotspots. The only criteria are as follows: They must be FUN and most of all… CHEAP!
My Sources I did all of the dirty work folks…I went out and
asked the hard-hitting, investigative questions in order to create a reliable (but hardly comprehensive) list of SD’s finest(and CHEAPEST) hotspots. How did I conduct my research you ask???
A FACEBOOK Poll of course! I asked and they answered. From my Facebook friends to you
… here it GOES!
La Jolla Whether you’re a sun
worshipper, a surfer, or HUMAN, you will enjoy the sights and sounds of La Jolla.
Been there done that you say?? I bet you haven’t explored the CAVE STORE at La Jolla Cove. constructed in 1906, only
$4 gets you in…travel down a steep set of stairs to a cave beneath a store. Don’t believe me? Then go check it out for yourself!
The Cave Store
Balboa Park Do you like FREE STUFF?? Then you’ll love “Residents Free Tuesday” at Balboa Park . Check out the schedule
to the left… Not into museums? Not
a problem! A stroll through Balboa Park will satisfy even the most culturally-deprived! Get in some exercise
while enjoying the intricate architecture and the beautiful plant life!
Cabrillo National Monument Interested in where “it” all
began? Then check out Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma. You only pay $5 per vehicle
and you get to enjoy panoramic views, San Diego’s first light house, and history at its finest!
All done at Cabrillo? Then head down the hill to check out the little-known Cabrillo Tide pools. They’re a must see!
Old Town Are you a history dork like
me? Then you will LOVE Old Town Get the tastiest tortillas in
town, right off the street for only $1…
Or head over to the newly-renovated Mormon-Battalion Center for FREE!...
Or peruse the various shops… Up for a scare? Then check
out the SPOOKY Whaley House. Get a group of 15 or more together and it’s only $3.00 a person Now that’s a SCARY, good price! ($6 regularly.)
Mission Trails Up for a little exercise?? Then explore the
countless paths that wind through Mission Trails in Santee.
Walk, run, hike, or bike…
Best of all?? It’s FREE! Cruise on over to the
Visitor’s Center Don’t forget to check
out the old dam…a MUST SEE!
(Are you going during the summer? Then beware of Rattlesnakes!)
The End! Suggestions??? Let me know and I’ll add it
to the list…
Of course San Diego has SO much to offer…I just thought I’d share a few!
Happy exploring my fellow frugally-minded friends!
