• -- organization and planning of an international conference, The Future of Jewish Monuments, with over thirty speakers from a dozen countries (17-19 November 1990).

• -- curating a traveling exhibition on the preservation of Jewish

monuments (opened in New York, November, 1990, traveling through February 1995 with stops in eight cities.

• -- organization and supervision on a multi-year inventory and survey

of Jewish sites in Central and Eastern Europe on behalf of the United States Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad (begun March, 1991)

• -- organization of a preservation program for the Jewish catacombs in

Rome (completed 1996)

• -- organization and planning of an architectural and photographic survey of Jewish heritage in Morocco (completed autumn 1990, report published 1993, photograph archive completed 1995); and Syria (completed 1996)

• -- organization and planning of restoration of the Tempel Synagogue,

Krakow, Poland and the preparation of a list of preservation priorities for WMF.

• -- identification and selection of ten preservation priorities for the

Jewish Heritage Program of WMF, and development of a strategy for planning and funding these projects.
