 Introduction of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Samsung launched the much awaited Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone this year in April

alongside the Galaxy S6 smartphone. The phone is a refined version of Samsung

Galaxy S6 with minor improvements. The phone featured with a Super AMOLED

capacitive touch screen powered by Exynos 7420 chipset with octa-core processor

making it a very powerful device. The unique selling proposition (USP) of this phone

is its bent edges which really add to the beauty of the phone and the fingerprint

scanner, the phone is approximately 7 mm thicker than Galaxy S6 and has minor

 

refinements like that of improved battery. The phone is provided with a 16MP

primary camera that takes really amazing pictures.

Design Specifications: 

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has been designed very carefully thus making it look

spectacular, the edges of the phone are bent and are made using aluminum instead

of plastic. The phone looks really classy owing to the diamond rolled edges of the

phone while the overall lustre of the phone is something to admire. Samsung should

really be praised in the respect that they managed to fit a 5.1 inches screen into a

body that is not bigger than the Apple iPhone 6 mobile. The home button is

integrated with the fingerprint sensor and can sometimes be a little problematic as

it’s not flushed with the front surface of the phone, thus there may be few chances

where the home button could be accidently pressed when kept inside the pocket

which can cause pocket dialing and can drain the battery for no reason.

The phone can be easily used with one hand as its dimensions are 5.59 x 2.76 x

0.28 inches and its weight is 132 grams thus making it very light weight. The display

is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which is also used in the back panel. There

are four color variants of this phone namely, White, Gold, Blue and Green.

 

Display Features : The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is provided with 5.1 inches Super AMOLED capacitive

touch screen with 16M colors having resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The phone

has approximately 577 pixels per inch, thus making its display a wonder. The display

is also multi-touch enabled and something to be proud of. The lopsided look of the

phone with its bent edges provides a pleasant experience when you would hold it.

The amazing feature of the display includes controlling the video player as all you

need to do is swipe around the display and the work is done. The display of Galaxy

S6 Edge will really catch your eyes with the crispness and clarity of the images it

produces. The Super AMOLED capacitive screen produces beautiful and vibrant

colors and we did not find anything wrong with the display of the phone.

Memory Storage: The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge comes with internal storage of 32GB, 64GB and

128GB which cannot be expanded as there is no MicroSD card slot provided in the

phone. The phone also comes with a 3 GB RAM, thus making it work smoothly.

Processor: The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is powered by Exynos 7420 chipset torqued with

Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 processor, making it

have a total of eight cores. The phone works really smooth and we did not observe

any lag or delayed touch response from it. We played high end games like Asphalt on

this phone and it ran smoothly without any problem. We also watched heavily

encoded videos on the phone and were really impressed by its stunning display of

video and its ability to process big files easily.

 

Camera Features:  

 

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is provided with 16 MP primary camera having 2988 x

5312 pixels powered with optical image stabilization, autofocus, LED flash and check

quality feature. The secondary camera is of 5 MP having 1440p@30fps with dual

video call and Auto HDR functionality. The video is recorded with 2160p@30fps,

1080p@60fps, 720p@120fps quality mode and added options includes HDR,

dual-video rec., check quality in the video. The picture quality is really stunning and

the videos recorded with the phone were really crisp and clear. The primary camera

has various features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, Auto HDR and

panorama mode. We did not find any problems with the camera as it worked

perfectly even in dark places too.

Battery Backup Life: The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is provided with a Non-removable Li-Ion 2600 mAh

battery, which is 50 mAh more than Samsung Galaxy S6, which promises a Stand-by

talk time up to 18 hours on a 3G Network and music play up to 50 h. When we tested

the phone for its battery we were really impressed by its performance. Even though

the battery is just 2600 mAh it works great. The technology used in this phone saves

a lot of battery usage, which we think is due to the efficient Exynos octa core

processor used in the phone which really optimizes the battery usage. Ultra-Power

 

Saving mode is enabled in this phone which lets your battery work for weeks even

with a single charge thus making it a perfect travel partner.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Price:   

  Though Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge price was around 60k rupees, but since its launch

the price seems to have reduced nearly 20k. The variations in price of Galaxy S6

Edge can be noticed from the above graph. PriceJugaad also predicts further reduce

in prices by 2% to 4% in next few upcoming weeks.

Technology aspects: The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge runs on Android Lollipop platform and can be

upgraded to the Marshmallow version when available. The TouchWiz installed in this

phone is really amazing and is far more improved than the earlier versions of it that

were not user friendly and were a cause of concern for Samsung’s smartphones. The

TouchWiz looks exactly like the Google’s Material Design and is really refined so as

not to take unnecessary space by providing useless applications. Overall the

TouchWiz has improved, but somewhere we still got the feeling of childish and

playful use of colors in the user interface. The phone can be installed with single

nano SIM and supports wireless charging. The phone doesn’t come with a Radio but

 

that’s not a problem anymore as you can easily listen to the radio stations using the

internet.

Conclusion:

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is an amazing phone and is certainly worth the money

even though it has almost identical features like that of Galaxy S6 but the

impeccable design is surely something to consider when purchasing the phone. The
