Objectives: Students will recall and produce words about sports and leisure time activities. (1.1) Students will recall and produce all the forms of jugar. (1.1)

Materials:Sports balls (baseball, basketball, tennis ball, volleyball, football, soccer ball, golf ball)Rackets/bats/clubsWhistleHat

Warm up: Fondos culturales (cultura)

New Vocabulary: (escuchar/T Presentation TPR Sports and Activities (see script below)

o Dress as Coach Wright (La entrenadora Wright) using a whistle, face paint, and a baseball hat.o Have students participate in each sport after a demonstration from Coach Wright when the

whistle blows.o Ask students to show each activity until there are few to no mistakes made.

A primera vista (escuchar) Listen to native speakers use new vocabulary in context. Repeat new vocabulary Activity 1 (track 3) TPR instead of point. (Cierren los ojos.) Activity 2 (track 4)

Explain jugar (grmatica) Explain boot verbs Write the following on the board:

Play ball (hablar) In groups of four

Imitate sport: throw, kick, or hit the appropriate sports ball to your teammates and tell your group withwhom you play. Modelo:

o Yo juego al ftbol con Paco.o Roberto juega al ftbol conmigo. Yo juego al tenis con Mara.o Paco juega al tenis conmigo. Yo juego al golf con Diego. Etc.

Evaluation and Assessment Immediate assessment will take place in class through checks for understanding and in class activities. Students will be formally assessed on the new vocabulary on a written quiz at the end of the week.
