TITLE: To Have Peace Means to Fight

SUBJECT: World Peace

SPECIFIC PURPOSE: To inform my audience about peace-the nature of peace, current issues on world peace and their involvement on it

THESIS STATEMENT: Everyone must be responsible in achieving world peace, not anymore peace only to himself.

INTRODUCTION

I. Attention Step

The Nigerian democracy activist Hafsat Abiola once stated: “Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are.”

II. Clarification Step

Lack of these words both in mind and heart is a cause why individuals fall short of true joy within; why nations fail to achieve harmonious relationship to one another, and; why the world can’t reach that level of universal peace. Turn the television on and you’ll witness how countries war against each other on the other side of the world. Surf the net and you’ll see how terrorized the people are. Millions of despairing men, women, little children and old are victims of the bitterness of man. All of them are prisoners of fear; all of them cry out for peace. Peace which they forgot how it is like. Peace which they don’t know how it was snatched from them. Peace which they don’t have idea how to get it back.

CONCLUSION

Summary Step: Peace is not a condition of individual; rather the condition of humanity as a whole which starts from an individual. Peace is not a prize won in a fight. It is the fight- not the fight between men; not the fight between nations; but the fight between us and ourselves, our selfish desires which poison our souls; the fight between man and greed that is trying to eat humanity. This is the true peace; but the greatest peace as written in the 14th chapter of Apostle John is the one that only Jesus Christ can give. It is not like the peace that this world can give but an everlasting peace from an everlasting God and Savior.
