There resided a huge oak tree in our school, with a luxurious
brown trunk, flourishing green head and colossal roots that
revealed their existence by peeking a little above the ground.
Every year, every month, even every day, I had witnessed
something about something gone under transformation, but
that tree was standing there as it was since ages, clasping the
earth with its sturdy roots. There were many oak trees in the
town, but what made this one special was its elegant
immensity. It was a famous tree, and since childhood, I had
heard many famous myths about it as well. Some said it was a
seven hundred years old tree that was planted there by an alien
having one big eye and three legs, some said it was the only
tree that survived „the comet crash‟, the same one that
eradicated the dinosaurs, and some said it appeared
mysteriously out of nowhere one stormy night!
But that day, while I was gazing out of the classroom
window, looking at its tiny leaves as gentle breezes made them
dance and rustle, and the sun made them shine momentarily
when they turned at an angle as if they were blinking lights,
the only thing I believed was: a bird ate a fruit, swallowed its
seeds because it was too bored to chew them, flew miles away
and pooped right above the place where that tree was standing.
The poop fell down carrying the seeds, one lucky seed got the
chance to germinate and then it budded into what stood before
me. Education! I grinned at the thought.
“Arrange it in proper order,” a teacher hissed at me.
“Huh?” I gasped.
“Proper order!” she hissed again, “And why are you
smiling?”
“N-nothing,” I mumbled straightening my answer sheet
and handed her back the supplement I had taken earlier, just in
case, but didn‟t use really. She shot an angry glance at me and
moved forward to collect further answer sheets.
The exam was finally over, yet I wasn't as happy as I had
thought I‟d be. In fact, I wasn't happy at all. In the morning, I
was having mixed feelings, but then it was plain sadness. I
could see the reflection of my sadness on every student‟s face
