The names which I have used in the book have been

made to appear like Russian and are used to set against the

time when the Soviet Union existed. They may not completely

be Russian in technicality. They appear to be of foreign origin.

For this, I extend my sincere apology if I do hurt any

sentiment. This book has been created purely out of fiction.

To the British The book has been authored with the characters offering

diverse views on various social and political issues of the time

it has been pitched against. The names and characters are

fictional and correspond not to any reality. However, if it hurts

any sentiment, I sincerely apologize for the same.

To the Americans Although, the role of the Americans is very limited in

my novel, yet I sincerely apologise if I hurt anyone's sentiment.

The dialogues in my book are meant to reflect the

psychological state of my characters. And, it is to be understood

against the Political set-up in which they are spoken.

PREFACE

The sole motivation in authoring this book is to create an “Art

of Imagination". There is no ulterior motive in creating a book

that is based on Cold War which is over almost a quarter

century ago. This book may turn out to be most essential to humans

when they have turbulent times in course of their lives, be it

political or personal. The human beings living in the political

situations in places such as the Middle-East or the Korean

Peninsula, or inside any of the war zones, inspired me to

author a piece of writing which will spread nothing but a

message of peace.

Another key aspect that I would like to highlight is that

the book is meant purely for appreciating and enjoying the

work of art as it is filled with serious, as well as, witty

situations. Also, it will highlight the biased views that existed

during that time. The politicians‟ view points and the public

opinion were antagonistic to each other. So, the book may

appear biased from the Russian, the British, as well as, the

American perspectives, which it is not.It is, hence, not to be

taken personally by any individual or politically by the people

or the Governments representing the countries that are

mentioned in the novel.

I also got inspiration from the characters like Arthur

Conan Doyle‟s Sherlock Holmes, Ian Fleming‟s James Bond

and John le Carre's George Smiley. So, I created a fictional

character named "Agent Maxim". Apart from the sources

mentioned above, I was also motivated by movies such as:

"Dr. Strangelove", "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold",

"Ivan‟s Childhood", "The Hunt for Red October", "Bridge of

Spies", and “Agent Vinod", among others.

I hope the book will spread nothing but a message of

peaceful co-existence.

I do not support the social or the political views that are

mentioned in the book or those that are spoken by the

characters. It is a deep introspection into the psychology of the

characters via-a-vis. the situations they were supposedly

placed against.

About the Book: It is written in the old play format, but

dressed as a novel. The basic theme of the story is that of a spy

thriller. But, it does not fall into any particular category owing

to the immensity of the subject-matter. So, it should be seen as

a mixed genre.

War is when the people's falseness prevails over the truth of

civilisation… War is when the human hypocrisy prevails over

the stillness of the Nature… War is when the society is re-

organised for hate… War is when the peace dies in the heart…

War is when propaganda of a wrong order perpetually

succeeds over innocent minds… War is when submission of

faith amounts to dictatorship… War is when hate is more

loved than love… War is when the civilisation is divided into

sectors… War is when the armies are trained against peace...

War is not, when the soldiers march for peace… Let the

Soldiers of Peace march in peace, for peace!!!
