Why do you want the job?

Please use this space to tell us how you match with the things we are looking for (person specification).

Now that my children are all at school I would like to work during the day. I work in the pub for a few hours each evening and really enjoy it, but I would like to do something more interesting and rewarding.

I have lived in this area all my life so I know my way around. I know all lot about what’s going on from talking to other mums when I take my kids to school. Also chatting to people in the bar is a good way to learn about local events and things

I like people and can talk to anyone from any part of society with confidence. My sister has a son with learning difficulties and I have spent a lot of time with him as he has grown up. I have enjoyed watching him mature and admire how he has coped with some of the things that have sometimes stopped him doing the things he wants to do.

I think disabled people should have the same chances as non-disabled people.

I am good at explaining things to my children and husband. I help train up new bar staff at work and show them how to clean the pipes, work the till and change barrels.

You have to be confident to work behind a bar, especially at closing time. I have also learnt how to sort out arguments in the bar and stop fights breaking out.

Tell us a bit about when you worked in a team?

I am part of a good team at the bar. We get on well and enjoy working together. Everyone mucks in with all the different jobs.

What are your ambitions?

I want to see my children grow up happy and healthy. If they live good lives and do no harm to other people that’s what matters most. I am not ambitious for myself I just want to do a job I enjoy, working with people and helping them to live as good a life as me.

What support might you need to do the job?

I have never worked with people with learning difficulties so I expect I have a lot to learn.
