• UKSEDS is the UK’s student space society, created in 1988 providing a platform for students to get involved in the international space community.
• We have 1200+ members and 25+ branches all over the UK.
• We are in fact the UK chapter of the worldwide SEDS movement, founded in 1980.

• To provide a forum through which students can become involved in the international space community.
• To motivate students to excel in space-related fields.• To share in the advancing knowledge and growing
benefits to be reaped from space.• To improve space-related education through both
academic work and hands-on projects.

• We run a number of space events and projects which give the opportunity to gain skills and hands-on experience of space technology.
• Our members develop leadership skills by planning, designing and running real space-projects.
• To encourage the participation of school students, we organise outreach programmes through STEMNET and science festivals.

• 1-day workshops include rocketry, satellite programming, robotics, high altitude ballooning,etc.
• Our annual National Student Space Conference features talks by leading space science and industry figures sharing the knowledge of space.

• Past projects: Asteroid Search Campaign, REXUS: PoleCATS and SUSat, Globe at Night.
• Bristol Pico3 Satellite Subsystem and Bristol Rockoon.
• Future Projects: UK Space Science Heritage Project, Rocketry, Balloons.
• Members can propose their own project and we help them get funding from space industry.

• In order to provide active participation of school students, we are in the process of organising an outreach programmes in schools.
• Active UKSEDS participation in the World Space Week ( 4th – 10th October 2013)
• Providing mentors to the UK CanSat competition organised by ESERO.
• Outreach at the London Science Festival 2013.

• We are very keen to get affiliated with schools and do our outreach activities with them to inspire the students to pursue space-related education in universities and space careers.
• To provide our skilled volunteers as mentors for the student teams of the UK CanSat Competition organised by ESERO.
• We have a school guide on our website which provides information on how schools can get involved in space activities.
