• Samuel Raimi was born on October 23rd in 1959 in Royal Oak, Michigan.
• He was raised in conservative Judaism.• The director graduated Groves High School. • He attended Michigan State Uni in which he
majored in English but left to film The Evil Dead.• He currently is married to Gillian Dania and has
5 children.
• Raimi has directed some of Hollywood’s scariest movies and biggest blockbusters; like Spider man and Evil Dead 2.
• His career first took off with a low budget horrow film called Evil Dead (1981).
• He has directed the first spiderman film franchise in 2002, 2004 and 2007.
• Sam Raimi was influenced by his father to start making films as his father brought him a movie camera to film while he was young.
• Raimi raised $375,000 from shooting a 32 minute horror film called ‘Within the Woods’
• On a low budget he was able to bring together enough money to create Evil Dead which ended up being a very successful horror film which began his career
Raimi became extremely popular after directing the spider man franchise however the first spider man film he directed in 2002 grossed over $800m worldwide worldwide.
The director then produced ‘The Grudge” Trilogy and other blockbuster movies.
He also reproduced his hit ‘Evil Dead’ and is remaking poltergeist.
