ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2011 2012

Sri Mata, Sri Maharajni, SrimatSimhasaneswari Chidagnikundasambhuta Devakaryasamudhyata (Lalithasahasranamam)

It

is really amazing, how our great rishis have succeeded in

conveying the vision of wholeness and our unbreakable relationship with IT, even through the stotras and keerthanas they have composed, be it about keerthanas Gods or Goddesses or about the Impersonal Self within. An ordinary mind can just read through absorbing the beauty and glory of the expressions, but a contemplative mind can delve deep into it and be absorbed in th the transcendental meaning it conveys. Two epithets, though all are of equal importance, are specially relevant as they convey the vision of our Vedic seers. The very first word, which upholds the Supreme Power as the Mother of the Universe points out that the Universe is the Divine Mothers playground and our approach to the Universe should be as laid down in the mantra ayground

Samarpan 2012

Matrudevobhava, another mahamantra of all time importance. Mother is the embodimentof SRI, all goodness and prosperity. Not only that, implied is another meaning of SRI, of , poison (bad and evil) also. In one sweep we are asked to look at the Universe and accept the good and the bad, understanding that everything has its origin from Mother and Her power of creation. Infinite are the possibilities and potentialities embodied in that most wonderful expression Sri Mata, which are revealed to pure minds contemplating on the infinity of motherhood. The second important expression is Devakaryasamudhyata - ever engaged in devakarya, seeing that good succeeds over evil and thus keeps the Universal balance keeps

sheet of dharma intact. All of us, Her, children have to fall in line with Her in this cosmic work, and has our own role to play, seeing that evil forces are kept at bay and good dominates. This can be done only in one way lighting the lamp of Truth in oneself and ghting allowing that light to illumine everything else. In essence it means keeping the banner of

Satyam vada Dharmam chara aloft. For good to succeed and establish itself it has to be rooted in Satya and Dharma. So it follows that devakarya means preservation of Satya and Dharma leading to the propagation of satwic qualities. Only in such an atmosphere can individuals develop and manifest their innate Divine qualities. It is only through this process can h homes and societies prosper and peace and happiness brought to the world at large. Though Mother is not ordained by anybody to do any work, she engages Herself in work all the time keeping the welfare of the Universe ever in Her mind. Sri Krishna says in Bhagavat Gita He is also working all the time though He has no duties to perform. All these agavat are pointers to the prime duty of every being to keep working for devakarya. The scope of Vedic Vision is geared to achieve in guiding human beings how they should live, work and execute their various duties and how they can automatically fall in line with this grand design playing the role of devakaryasamudhyata. This Vedic Vision is now being appreciated by more and more enlightened souls all over the world. Robert Muller in his famous book The Birth of a Global Civilization (p. 71) ert provides the following description and prayer. I pray that all human beings of this earth become instruments of peace thus fulfilling the cosmic function deeply engraved in each of us and for which we are born and allowed to live temporarily on this particular planet in the vast universe and eternal stream of time. The peace of the world is the sum total of

Samarpan 2012

the peace of all individuals. This enlightening statement has come not from an Indian, nor a Vedic Scholar, but an American, whose mind has succeeded in capturing the Vedic Vision of our rishis. Only a highly contemplative mind can delve deep into the depths of the cosmic organization and become aware of the intricate inter relationships that characterise the cosmic whole. relationships

The Self created Lord has created the sense organs with the inherent defect that they are by nature outgoing. This is why beings see things outside and cannot see the Self within. Rarely is there found a wise person, seeking immortality, who can withdraw his sense organs from external objects and see this Self within. ctsOne difficult scientific truth to comprehend by even the most brilliant human mind is how the One has become the many. Once this Truth is imprinted in the human mind, all confusions and problems disappear and the path for the evolution of man to MAN becomes as clear as a straight line. The genius of the Indian rishis solved this problem in the early dawn of human civilization and their discovery that one Truth has become many has remained an unparalleled discovery or in Indian terms, the ultimate in Self realisation. All investigations of modern science are getting oriented towards the realization of this ultimate Truth. Unless and until they understand the full implications of the above quoted Upanishadic mantra, their search and research would lead them nowhere. Therein also lies the difficulty in universalising the Vedic Vision and integrating it with a routine life style. It is here that our Seers have scored success by creating forms, images, similies and stories embodying Truth and its multifold manifestations, of which the pride of place goes to the ideal of the Mother of the Universe, Her attributes and stories depicting her creative, sustaining and destroying power. She is the mine of wisdom, also of Jnanasakthi, Ichasakthi and Kriyasakthi. Vivekananda Kendra Vedic Vision Foundation is kthi blessed to have our Centre in the vicinity of the ancient and most famous Devi Temple in

Samarpan 2012

Kerala. One of our major Prabhashana series is focused on the exploration of the infinitude of Mother as revealed through Lalita sahasranamam. er Satya, Dharma, Yajna and Tapas are the four ideals or pillars on which Vedic Vision Foundation rests and making use of Jnana, Karma, Bhakti, Raja Yogas the super structure is built in the minds of our well wishers through the lives they live, work they do and the wishers network of relationships they create. SamarpanI.SatyaEach soul is potentially divine is the guideline that is given by Swami Vivekananda to connect ourselves with the UltimateTruth. That each one of us has a Divine role to play in the totality of cosmic function is what our sruthis and smrithis have emphasized. Swamiji provides us with a ladder helping us to climb towards the Truth. That is Viveka Sopana the ladder of Practical Vedanta. First and foremost of our efforts is to reinforce the faith in the Almighty and in oneself through small and big activities such as rituals, ceremonies, satsangs, etc. These are the golden threads which can replace the artificial glistening threads of materialistic enjoyments with which the fabric of human lives are embellished these days. Wrong notions, half baked ideals, meaningless actions, at individual and collective level have all individual contributed to converting human life into a coarse dirty, ugly fabric. Giving new rational meanings and scientific explanations to rituals and ceremonies is one way of converting those very actions into spiritual occupational therapies which help to pluck out the old occupational without causing pain and damage to the individual. All our daily routines are the live experiments in this simple elementary transformation of the inner nature of the individual. II. DharmaTruth and Dharma go hand in hand. Truth

inspires and energises Dharma. Dharma upholds the validity of Truth and together they uphold the complicated interrelationships that exist in the Universe. It is the warmth of a dharmic life that brings to maturity and fullness all the other qualities that exist in an and individual. Through practice of Dharma people discover a fresh identity, unity and cohesiveness. Strengthening Satya and Dharma, the two giant pillars of human life is

6

Samarpannecessary to preserve them as values at the Universal level. A variety of Programmes were values organized to emphasize the above values.

III. YajnaThe best way to capture the glory of Yajna into common human life is to transform simple day to day actions into selfless acts of dedication to Almighty or to an ideal. Almighty Swamijis ideal of Serve Man Serve God is a wonderful way of achieving this transformation. The threads of the fabric of human life which are soaked in materialism can be replaced effectively and without damage to the individual by elevating common life elevating activities on to a spiritual dimension. That is one of the major live experiments that goes on under the umbrella of Vedic Vision Foundation. As already indicated all the multifarious activities of the Foundation are suffused with the ideal of Nishkama Karma and slowly but ideal steadily a wonderful internal upgradation occurs leading to the total sublimation of human life.

IV. TapasTapas is another time tested technique by which the unwanted threads of material motivations of life are totally eliminated and replaced by those of Satya and Dharma. All human efforts by which one acquires the courage and conviction to stick to Truth are acts of Tapas. Bringing time consciousness and discipline, avoiding waste of time, material and energy, practices of Yoga, Pranayama, etc. are all part of Tapas helping one to be aware of ractices the spiritual dimension within oneself. All the activities and celebrations are interwoven with these four grand cosmic principles so that every one associated with our Centre comes to recognize his/her role as Centre a devakaryasamudhyata fulfilling also Swamijis ideal of atmano mokshartham jagat

hithaya caSome of our major activities upholding the above cosmic principles are as follows:

Networking through RamayanaIn Kerala, Ramayana month begins on 1st Karkadakam (17th July 2011). In almost all

Hindu families one will read the holy Ramayana and other members will listen. Elaborate arrangements will be made in most of the temples to read Ramayana and preach the divine message to lead an ideal life. Paramacharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in his characteristic simple language has said "There are two powerful 'Taraka Namas'. One

is Aum and another is Ram. All mantras have to be prefixed with Aum for obtaining thebenefits of those mantras, whereas there is no need to prefix Aum when the name 'Ram'
