YOUTH ONSET

1. Adolescence, teenage and youth have been described as a period of storm, stress and

intense conflict

2. It’s characterised by alternating emotions and attitudes; a multitude of emotional peaks and valleys, “exhilarating highs and depressing lows.”

“..energetic enthusiasm versus indifference and boredom, cheerfulness versus depression, idealitic atruism versus selfishness, vanity and boasting versus humility and shyness,

sensitivity versus heartlessness, and gentleness versus cruelty,” (Hall, 1918).

3. Some teenagers and youth never adequately adjust or survive the stage because of,

among other things, risky behaviour (accidents, HIV/AIDS, drug experimentation,

gangsterism, crime), rebellion, parental difficulties, peer pressure, suicide and so on.

4. The personal youthful upheaval in most cases precedes identity development and

settlement of critical life issues but cannot be treated as just a passing phase.

5. ‘Youth’ is not confined to Western categories, as many as youth definitions

Brief Description

The Ambassador Club is the third level of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s youth organization which is meant for young people

between 16 years of age and mid twenties. Its primary intention is to provide Senior Youth with opportunities

for active involvement in the church’s mission, leadership and decision making, thereby helping young people to discover their

God-given talents and life vocation.

1. Make the number one priority of Ambassador programming to be the personal salvation of each and every youth who is a member.
