Sales to Begin of First Collaboration Models Between Alfa Romeo and Ken Okuyama

KEN OKUYAMA DESIGN K.K. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Kiyoyuki Okuyama, hereinafter “KEN OKUYAMA DESIGN”) and FCA Japan Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Pontus Häggström, hereinafter “FCAJ”) are pleased to announce the first collaboration models by the two companies. The two collaboration models being unveiled are the “Alfa Romeo Giulietta Ken Okuyama Speciale Rossa” and the “Alfa Romeo Giulietta Ken Okuyama Speciale Bianca”, both based on the “Sportiva” grade of the “Giulietta” from the “Alfa Romeo” brand handled by FCAJ. Sales are slated to begin January 31, 2015 at authorized Alfa Romeo dealers nationwide. The greatest features of the collaboration models this time are the abundant adoption of specialty equipment coupled with the incorporation of elements from the “Kode7 Clubman” (※1) and “Kode9” (※2) developed and sold independently by KEN OKUYAMA DESIGN. The “Alfa Romeo Giulietta Ken Okuyama Speciale Rossa” features the motif of the Kode7 Clubman with white wavelike stripes applied to the Alfa Red body, resulting in a more beautifully finished Giulietta proportions that are simple yet clear cut. The “Alfa Romeo Giulietta Ken Okuyama Speciale Bianca” is based on the motif of the Kode9. Stripes applied to the elegant Ice White body that is unique to the Alfa Romeo brand further emphasize the sportiness of the Giulietta. An overview of both models is as follows.

Individually mirror finished by artisans from the “Migakiya Syndicate”, a metal processing group from Niigata Prefecture that is highly regarded by Ken Okuyama.

End    (※1) Kode7 Clubman: An open body type handmade sports car unveiled at the 2008

Geneva Motor Show. With the basic design inherited from the k.o7 and design upgrades adopted throughout, the sports car was newly dubbed the kode7. The vehicle is a new series that is available at a reasonable price with focus on a simple, lightweight design to enable enjoyment of both circuit events and sporty driving. The new model does away with functions whose purpose is comfort including the movable visors and retractable headlights, and more strongly emphasizes the concept of devotion to driving performance. With an NA 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine tuned to 250PS, the vehicle is equipped to handle various types of driving from racing to on-road driving.

appeal of basic proportions in a simple manner, making it the antithesis of today’s complex, difficult to understand car designs. The vehicle features a 370PS 2-liter, 4-cylinder high power engine with an HKS supercharger and a lightweight, 890kg body, and is equipped with high performance 4-pot brakes and a fully adjustable suspension featuring a wing suspension arm with pillow balls. As a result, the boisterous sporty spirit forgotten by modern day vehicles is conveyed to the driver. As part of its interior, the new model vehicle is also equipped with the TAG Heuer Carrera CMC kode9 Limited, a new limited production model wristwatch designed in collaboration with TAG Heuer, and a new model TAG Heuer Boston Bag designed by KEN OKUYAMA, and the world premiers of both the wristwatch and the bag were announced together with the kode9.
