Bull Development:

Cedardale Bulls have been developed on a ration that was designed to maximize growth and structural development and minimize excess fat deposition. In our opinion, these bulls are sold in perfect working condition; bulls that are bred to perform, and fed to last!

Delivery:

Bulls can be taken home immediately following the sale, or left with us free of charge until May 1, 2013 and delivered by us at shared cost. Bulls can be kept after May 1st at a cost of $100 per month at the purchasers own risk.

We are extremely proud to be one of Ontario’s largest registered Charolais cow operations as well as one of the longest running one iron Charolais bull sales in Ontario.

It is a very exciting and rewarding time to be in the cattle business and in particular the cow calf sector of the industry as feeder calves continue to trade at record or near record values. The Charolais and Charolais cross feeder calf is the most sought after feeder at the market today. The past twelve months have been incredible, with every segment of the beef industry being financially rewarded; in particular those who have invested in high quality genetics over the years. We strongly believe that the superior quality of the bulls in this sale offering will provide the genetics needed for the advancement of our beef production industry. We strive to produce bulls that encompass the economically important traits that are imperative in the cattle business; polled white bulls that are thick but still smooth, structurally sound, and have excellent temperaments. How Much Can You Afford to Pay for a Bull?

CATTLEMEN’S FORMULA Increase in Pounds per Calf from a High Performance Bull

X Number of cows bred to him per year X Number of years you keep the bull X Expected Selling Price of Calves

= Additional dollars you can pay for a good bull

Example: A bull who adds 30 lbs. to the weaning weight of each of his calves mated to 25 cows per year for 4 years and selling the calves for $1.00/pound:

30 X 25 = 750 X 4 = 3000 X $1.00 = $3000 This means that a good bull is worth an additional $3000 more than the average bull who will keep your weaning weights the same. Keep in mind this equation does not include the increase in value due to calving ease, higher quality replacements, yearling growth, feedlot gain and better carcass quality. Use this formula and put your own figures into it and see what you can afford to pay.

Birth Weight Information

Calving ease is related to the birth weight of a bull. Other factors related to the cow such as size, nutrition, gestation, and calf shape also play key roles in calving ease. The cow is involved in more than 50% of the calf. The birthweight of these bulls are a reflection of our larger size cowherd. On average our cow size will be larger, which in turn will amount to more birth weight on larger cows. Smaller cows will result in lighter birthweights. EPD’s for birth weight accompany each lot.

We calved 150 registered Charolais females in 2012 and we are selling 25

yearling bulls. These bulls represent the top 33% of our 2012 bull calves.

We cull hard to ensure only our best are offered for sale.

Terms & Conditions…

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque. Settlement to be made immediately after the completion of the sale, payable at par to Cedardale Farms. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made before any cattle will be released.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder… no by-bidding will be permitted.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from who the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decisions on all disputes will be final.

Announcements: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee: Should any bull fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk and the seller and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.

Mail Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representative. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

Insurance: We strongly recommend that all buyers insure their purchases. Any buyers that leave their bulls at Cedardale farms for any period of time following the sale are aware that they assume all risk with their purchases.
