Committees Need You

Do you have a few hours a month to make All Saints a stronger place? We could use your help. You could help by joining a committee. It’s not as boring as it sounds. Each committee operates a little differently, but mostly you meet once per month and share your ideas and perhaps take on a small task or two. That’s it. But it makes a world of difference. If you’d like to help, we could use you with our Worship, Property (building mainte-nance), Outreach (making All Saints known in the community), Stewardship (helping us use all of our time and talents and treasure wisely), Technology (computers and IT), Financial Support (money, money, money), Learning, Social Ministry and other Committees. Talk with either of the pastors and we’ll get you hooked up.

Chapter One continues to

read on… We meet May 16 at 7 p.m. at

Jane Oppermann’s home to discuss A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler. Mary Hurney will lead the dis-cussion. Please call Jane Oppermann (847-277-7715) for more information or to let her know you are inter-ested in becoming a part of our book discussion group.

E-mail Lists

All Saints maintains several email lists to communicate with members. There are three different lists:

Publicity is for general publicity announcements.

“Junkin’ for Jesus” Beginning March 15 thru September 30, George

Buerger, will begin the “Junkin’ for Jesus”

cleanup campaign. There have been many

questions regarding items that are recycla-

ble. The basic answer is: ANYTHING METAL

which includes household utensils, lawn

equipment, swimming pools, air conditioners, auto-

mobile parts, wiring etc. Aluminum and copper

items are especially valuable. Be sure gas and oil is

drained from any lawn equipment. NON-

RECYCLABLES INCLUDE: computers,

phones, TV’S, and plastic items. Palatine Town-

ship has a FREE Electronic Recycling Day on Sat-

urday, June 11. Go early, as there are big lines.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY ELECTRONIC

ITEMS TO CHURCH.

Smaller items can be dropped off under the cloak

rack in Gathering Space.

Larger items can be picked up at your home by

emailing George at [email protected] or phone

224-532-0171 to arrange for a pickup time.

Blessing of Bikes and Wheeled Things At our first Saturday service of the year (May 28), bring your bicycles and scooters and skate-boards and motorcycles. We will pray God’s blessing for safety and joy this summer season.

Appreciation Dinner Everyone who helped with All Saints’ ministry to the homeless this season is invited to a celebratory dinner on Friday, May 6. “Whether you were a shift-worker once a month or more;

cooked or shopped for food (even if it was only one loaf of bread); or frequently vacuumed car-pets on Sunday morning, we want to recognize your contribution to this important work,” said Co-Site Director Tom Germuska. “Come and join your co-workers for a casual supper,” he added. “Everyone is important to this ministry.”

As in the past there will be a meet-and-greet in the Gathering Space starting at 5:30 p.m. with some appetizers, a buffet dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. Some brief remarks will follow dinner and guests can plan on leaving by 7:30 p.m.; plen-ty of time to catch a movie or do something else that evening.

Recycling

News All Saints has a paper recycling bin in the parking lot. This is for paper, cardboard, etc. Bring your paper and cardboard from home. All Saints re-ceives a small fee for each load. Within the build-ing, please make sure to recycle only plastic, glass, and metal in the 2 bins in the Gathering Space. All other bins (in Gathering Space, offices, etc) are for paper and cardboard only.
