Welcome Note from Principal The staff and I are very conscious of the trust, which you have placed in us when you enrol
your child in Saint Vincent de Paul Primary School. Saint Vincent de Paul Primary School is a
Catholic Maintained Primary School that welcomes and caters for children of all nationalities
and religious beliefs. We have strong partnerships with our local post primaries including
Mercy College, Blessed Trinity College, St Malachy’s College, Dominican College, Belfast Royal
Academy.
We are a caring school where the whole school community shares a common goal – to work
together in partnership to make a difference.
In Saint Vincent de Paul Primary School every child is treated as precious and unique. We aim
to develop the ability of each child sharing with the Home and Parish a growth in faith
through prayer and the preparation for the sacraments. We are committed to providing the
fullest of opportunities for all our pupils to allow everyone to develop their full potential in a
nurturing, secure and safe environment. We believe that your child’s education should be life
enhancing and should foster in them a sense of self-confidence and self-belief.
We recognise also that it is only when the school and home work together that your child’s
best interests are served. Therefore we strive to maintain close links with all our parents
throughout the year.
This year we continue to embark on the journey towards our new school build on Mill Avenue
in Ligoniel.
Along with all the staff of Saint Vincent de Paul Primary School I look forward to working in
partnership with you and it is my wish that the coming years will be happy and successful for
your child.

Summary findings from ETI Inspection November 2018
The leadership and management set out a clear vision and high expectations for
promoting respectful behaviours, improving children’s attainment and supporting
them to overcome potential barriers to learning.
The governors use their wide range of different yet complementary skills and
experience to support and challenge the school to meet the needs of the children
and celebrate their achievements.
The school development planning process is underpinned by extensive consultation
with staff, children, parents and governors and the information is used
effectively in conjunction with an analysis of the school’s qualitative and
quantitative data to inform current priorities. The documentation indicates a
whole-school approach to school improvement and an emphasis on continuous
professional development for all staff.
The processes for self-evaluation are supported by a broad range of evidence and
there are clear systems in place for monitoring and evaluating the progress being
made by the children.
The extensive range of partnerships with other schools and external agencies link
appropriately to the school’s priorities of supporting the pastoral needs of the
children and families and raising standards.
During the inspection, the school provided evidence that the arrangements for
safeguarding children reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of
Education.

AUDITIONS Some of our pupils have also attended castings for various popular T.V. Dramas & Films through Carla Stronge Casting Agency:
Assemblies & School Productions All classes have had their own theme based class assemblies. P1-P3 children participated in their annual Christmas productions. P4-P7 children were all involved in the senior Nativity Play in the church. Primary 7 pupils had begun rehearsing a production of ‘Footloose’ for their end of year show. However, sadly this will no longer take place. We are currently trying to encourage the children to participate in a mini movie instead depending on the level of interest/engagement from the children. Keeping Creative During quarantine teachers have been encouraging the children to be creative through their home learning activities in Art, Music and Drama. I have been uploading stories and poetry using the DO INK GREEN SCREEN APP which staff & pupils had just received training on. These have been saved to VIMEO as a resource we can use in future. We have also made several staff and pupil ‘Feel Good Friday’ videos which all staff have been invited to participate in & to remind the children that we the staff are all still here and still all very much connected!
