3 - St.Thomas the Apostle Parish
Thank you from Fr. Jose
I have been so privileged to be part of St. Thomas Parish, Brigantine for the past 5 years. I was truly
blessed in every step of the way. I leave this parish with mixed feelings. You touched my life and
enriched my ministry during this period. Your encouragement, support, brotherly correction helped me to
be what I am today. As I leave St. Thomas, I don’t carry any regret but only pleasant memories. I am
truly grateful to you for your love, prayers and friendship.
Before I leave this beautiful island, I wish to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to number of
people with whom I had the opportunity to work. In the first place, I thank God Almighty for having called
me to serve in this wonderful community with people who welcome and love priests.
I thank Bishop Dennis Sullivan for welcoming me to the Diocese of Camden. I am grateful to the priests
in the Diocese for their brotherly love and friendship.
With gratitude I remember Fr. Bill Vandegrift for his fraternal concerns, love and friendship. May he
enjoy the fruit of his hard labor with the Lord in heaven.
Fr. Ed Maher is a man of prayer and leads a simple life. He is so committed to the parish and concerned
about the growth of the parish. He is a good leader who directs with good understanding with everyone,
always encouraging, supportive and kind hearted. Thank you for your inspiration and motivation. Thanks
for your prayers and encouragement whenever I went through personal problems. I will miss you very
much.
Msgr. Tom Morgan is my spiritual director and confessor. Thanks for your guidance especially when I
was confused with ideas to make important decisions. I thank Msgr. Joe Mannion for his guidance and
friendship past 5 years. Thank you for the great time at the dinner table during my first two years.
Fr. Bab Matysik is a simple and generous person. I am inspired by his 35 years of service to the hospital
to care the sick people. With gratitude I remember Msgr. Don Leighton for his friendship and concern.
Deacon Lenny has been a good friend of mine and thank you for all your help especially preaching the
homily for my Mass.
We have a wonderful staff at St. Thomas. Lunch time spent with them was always memorable. Thanks
to Jane Staunton, Mary Jane Kelso, Ann DiGiacomo, Lynne Flanagan, Jennifer Sigmund, Barbara
Cawley, Sandee Holdsworth and Mary Kimura for accepting me like your brother and I learned a lot from
you.
I cannot forget the coffee club team in St. Philip hall. From my first day at St. Thomas you welcomed me
to your company and made me part of your group. It was a great time of socializing. From you I learned
about the parish, the Brigantine community and American culture. Thank you.
Knight of Columbus meetings and my interaction with them was so great. Thanks for helping the poor
and needy people. Because of you, the poor villagers in the Diocese of Imphal, India have a church for
prayer.
I wish to thank the parish Council members, Women’s Club, CCD staff and children, Rosary for peace
group, prayer network group, great friends of “Lord teach me to pray group” and different ministries and
committees at St. Thomas. Time spent with you were moments of learning and building relationships.
Thank you.
4 - St.Thomas the Apostle Parish
I remember with gratitude all our altar servers, lectors, EM’s, Sacristans, ushers and St. Martha’s group.
Thanks for all your help for me to celebrate mass. Celebrating Mass at St. Thomas used to be wonderful
experience with beautiful singing. Thanks Mary Jane and her team for helping me pray better.
Mayer Andy Simpson and Philip Guenther and Brigantine City Council members and their team were so
kind to me. I remember you with gratitude. Thanks to Brigantine Community center members, Rev.
Scotland and the community of Presbyterian Church, Rabbi Lieberman and the Temple Beth Community
members for your friendship.
I had very friendly neighbors at Sterling place. You were so helpful and kind to me. You will be missed
very much.
I enjoyed visiting the sick and home bound. I know how difficult it is to be living in pain and loneliness.
You kept me busy. I will miss you and continue to pray for you all. May God grant eternal reward to those
who passed from this life to the next.
Parishioners of St. Thomas and the visitors; thanks for accepting me with my Indian accent. Maggie
Shindle and Nicole Tomassi helped me improve my accent, many thanks to them. Many asked me, are
you missing your home? I used to answer them, when I am away from my family I am with so many
fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters who love me. Thanks for your concern, encouragement, love and
generosity.
It is time for me to say adios to you with a heavy heart full of gratitude and love. Please know that I will
remember you all in my prayers. Sorry, if I have not been up to your expectations. I need your prayers.
From July 1st I will be serving in Evansville Diocese, Indiana. You will be out of my sight but never be out
my mind. Thank you so much, I will Miss you, I love you.

Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most
Holy Sacrament. I love You above all thinks, and I de-
sire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this
moment receive You sacramentally, come at least
spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were
already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never

Amen.
