Thanksgiving Day is the beginning of our annual St. Rose Christmas Basket program. Sponsored by the Knights of
Columbus, this parish tradition has been providing food and gifts to those in need for more than 60 years. Please bring your non-perishable food items to the Thanksgiving Day Mass and, as tradition goes, you will be invited to bring your gifts up to the altar during Mass. Cash and check donations are also welcomed and much needed. Starting Saturday, Nov 30th, the Christmas Tree Angels will be in the back of the church, anxiously awaiting for you to take them shopping for the children in need. Our little grocery cart will also be there; and tags identify the type of food items most in need. Toys and gifts, canned and non-perishable food, “gently-used” clothes and household items will be collected through Dec 15th. We thank you for your generous support of the St. Rose Christmas basket program, and new volunteers are always welcome to this family-friendly event. Please send an email to [email protected]. For those requesting assistance, applications will be taken Sunday, Dec 1st, 9:30am – 2:00pm and Monday, Dec 2nd, 5:00pm – 6:00pm. Please bring proof of address.

SCHOOL NEWS
Holy Hour, Why Should We Go?
Popes and Saints have written how one Hour of Adoration helps provide a healthy spiritual life. These writings tell us that our Holy Hour is more powerful than anything in this world outside of Mass. If we want to increase vocations, stop abortions, bring peace to earth
and stop evils of all kind; this is the way to do it. St. Faustina Kowalska said every Holy Hour we make so pleases the Heart of Jesus that every man, woman, and child living on earth receives a new effect of God's grace.
Our adoration reaches out to our families and our community, and as a result, our families are very blessed and brought closer together. Please join us Saturday mornings or on the first Friday of the month through Saturday morning for 12+ hours of Adoration.
~~~ The Vocations Committee would like to thank the members of our parish A.C.T.S. Ministry for committing to take our
Vocations Cross for the months of December and January 2020 to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
Vocations ‘ Corner
The St. Rose Senior Ministry is Serving Dinner Thanksgiving Day at 3 p.m.
~All Parish Family are Invited to Attend~ Call Dona at the Rel Ed Office ~Donations Gratefully Accepted~
The members of the A.C.T.S. community strives to assist members of our parish family to attain a deeper relationship with our Lord and with fellow parishioners through Adoration
(the call, acceptance and response to God), Community (love and caring for each other as members of the body of Christ), Theology (study of our faith through scripture) and Service (to God, each other and our parish family). The next St. Rose ACTS Men's Retreat is March 12-15, 2020. The next Women's will be in August 2020. We would like to invite all parishioners to join them in prayer for vocations.
OPPORTUNITIES TO LIVE OUT YOUR FAITH
OF KINGS AND KINGSHIP
Americans have an uncomfortable relationship with kings. The American Revolution was fought for independence from King George, after all. Nonetheless, today every Catholic church around the world celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Today's feast invites us to look beyond our national loyalties and rejoice in our primary identity. We are children of God in Jesus, Christ the King. Our readings help us consider what it's like to belong to God's kingdom. The book of Samuel captures the deep longing of the Israelites for a king to shepherd them. Saint Paul reminds the Colossians that we belong to the kingdom of Christ, whose power he praises in a beautiful hymn. Finally, Luke's Gospel calls to mind the kind of king Jesus chooses to be--a suffering servant, a man for others. By sacrificing his life for us, Jesus throws open the gates of Paradise. Lawyers vs. Hunger
This Thanksgiving Holiday season, Saint Vincent de Paul, Roseville,
has an opportunity to double our donations for our Food Locker program. A group of local lawyers created a program named Lawyers vs. Hunger and they offered to match Saint Vincent’s donations, dollar for dollar, up to a maximum of $14,000. To qualify for this match, donations must be received between October 23rd thru November 30th. If you would like to help us meet our goal, please mail a check to us with a note on the check “Lawyers vs. Hunger” or donate through our website; www.placersvdp.com. Thank you so much for your ongoing support!
TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
Today's solemnity, the final feast of the Church year, is a youngster as feasts go. In 1925, Pope Pius XI was distressed by global political upheaval and the de-Christianizing of society. That year was a Holy Year, keyed to the sixteen hundredth anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, when the words and of his kingdom there will be no end were added to the Creed. The Pope explained that although most feasts had developed over many centuries, the Church sometimes provided a new feast to address new needs. He pointed to the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, showing Christ's love and compassion in a time when many people embraced a cold and gloomy spirituality. Originally on the last Sunday of October, in the late 1960s the solemnity of Christ the King was moved to the last Sunday of the year. Fresh from baptism's waters, we are anointed with chrism as Christ was anointed priest, prophet, and king. This feast is a key to our identity. On this feast, we recognize Christ as a king who breaks the usual mold of kingship, and who shapes his kingdom with our hands, our words, our deeds of love and service. --James Field, Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.
Suggested donation for each evening’s talk is $10.00 per person. On Saturday, November 26, seminar talks will be given throughout the day from 9:00am to 7:00pm. Donation for the Saturday event is $25.00/person. The attached flyer gives the details of the event. I rejoiced because they said to me, We will go up to the house of the LORD.
following of that impulse. --Henry Van Dyke
DE REYES Y REINADOS
Los estadounidenses tienen una relación incomoda con los reyes. La Revolución Estadounidense se peleó para lograr la independencia del Rey Jorge, después de todo. Sin embargo, hoy cada iglesia católica alrededor del mundo celebra la Solemnidad del Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo. La celebración de hoy de la Iglesia nos invita a ver más allá de nuestras lealtades nacionales y regocijarnos en nuestra primera identidad. Somos hijos de Dios en Jesús, Cristo el Rey. Nuestras lecturas nos ayudan a considerar cómo pertenecer al Reino de Dios. El libro de Samuel captura el profundo anhelo de los israelitas por un rey que los pastoree. San Pablo recuerda a los colosenses que pertenecemos al reino de Cristo, cuyo poder alaba en un hermoso himno. Por último, el Evangelio de Lucas evoca el tipo de rey que Jesús elige ser, un siervo sufriente, un hombre para los demás. Al sacrificar su vida por nosotros, Jesús abre las puertas del Paraíso. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
En la frontera entre México y El Paso en Texas en los Estados Unidos hay una grandísima imagen de Cristo Rey con sus brazos extendidos en bienvenida y sobre una cruz. En el continente Americano encontramos imágenes de Cristo en las montañas como Cristo Redentor en Brasil, o Cristo de los Andes, entre Chile y Argentina, o el Cristo Rey en Colombia; todos observando calladamente pesares y progresos de sus pueblos y naciones. En toda Latinoamérica se grita esperanzadamente Viva Cristo Rey . La Iglesia universal honra a Cristo con el título de Rey solo desde 1925, pero siempre tuvo la certeza que el pobre Jesús de Nazaret es nuestro Maestro y Señor y, contra él no pueden las fuerzas del mal ni la injusticia. Terminando el año litúrgico, es justo y necesario recordar y festejar que Jesús reina para siempre. En Latinoamérica y en todas partes donde la injusticia parece dominar, Cristo Rey es continuo recuerdo de la promesa divina; de la esperanza de un mundo mejor no allá en el cielo sino aquí en la tierra renovada. Por eso terminemos el año litúrgico gritando Viva Cristo Rey . -Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.
Durante el mes de noviembre, recordamos a nuestros seres queridos que se fueron y los mantenemos en nuestras oraciones. Los sobres del día de Todos los Fieles Difuntos están disponibles para los que deseen recordar a alguien especial que nos haya precedido en fe. La próxima semana, por favor escriba el nombre (s) de su ser querido fielmente fallecido, en uno de los sobres de “All Souls” y colóquelo en la canasta de colección o en la caja que estará en el altar. Los nombres presentados se incluirán en el libro Especial de Intenciones de Oración, ubicado en el altar y recordados en las misas celebradas durante el mes de noviembre y en nuestras oraciones compartidas.
El calendario de nuestra iglesia ahora tiene fechas disponibles en enero y febrero de 2020 para Bautismos. La iglesia ya no estará cerrada durante esos dos meses para la construcción. Padres, si están interesados en que sus hijos reciban el Sacramento del
