VISIONS Series—June 20 Our next VISIONS presentation is Thursday, June 20 at 9:45 am in Room 2. The monthly se-ries, continues with a program on Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres—also known simply as Chartres. Bishop Robert Barron calls this spectacular medieval church “the most beauti-ful place on earth”— and for good reason.

Built between the twelfth and thirteenth centu-ries, Chartres is renowned for the beauty of its architectural design, artistic detail, and light. As the destination for pilgrims, the cathedral has received millions of the faithful who find in Chartres a site that both draws them in by the force of its splendor and lifts their eyes and hearts to the Lord and to His Mother, after whom the cathedral is named.

Bishop's Lenten Appeal Thank you to the many parishioners who have made a gift/pledge to the 2019 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA). We are asking every parish household to participate in the BLA. A letter was just mailed at the end of May to families who have not yet pledged. Please prayerfully reflect on your blessings and consider joining in support of the BLA. Every pledge, no matter the size, is important to continuing the Mission of Jesus Christ in our diocese! Thank you!

Fr. Steven Farewell Join us on Thursday, June 20, at 6 pm in Hay-den Hall to say good bye to Father Steven. Fa-ther arrived in June of 2014 as a newly ordained priest and has been a blessing here at St. Philip ever since. Mark your calendar now to come to send Fr. Steven off on his new assignment as a Navy Chaplain.

From the Desk of Fr. Donahue Dear Parishioners,

Peace to you from the rectory. Please keep in mind that this Thursday, June 20, at 6 pm, we will be having a farewell party for Fr. Ste-ven as he prepares to begin his next assign-ment as a Navy chaplain. Included with to-day’s bulletin is another letter by me, a small token of the great admiration and gratitude we all have for Fr. Steven and his service among us.

Please also note that next Saturday and Sun-day we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of the Lord. As in years past, we will have the Eucharist under both species – the Blood of Christ from the chalice in addition to the Body of Christ as usual – at the 5:30 pm, 10 am, 12 noon and 2 pm Masses. We will also have our yearly Eucharistic Procession after the 10 am and 2 pm Masses. Since this particular weekend is Fr. Steven’s last with us, he will be leading both those processions. This is most fit-ting, given all that Fr. Steven has done in his time at St. Philip to promote Eucharistic Adora-tion and love for Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.

A delicate matter has come to my attention that I bring up with some hesitation. Apparent-ly, some have begun “cutting” in the confes-sional line in order to get their Confession heard before others. Perhaps these individuals are thinking, what is one more sin, since soon, they are all going to be forgiven? I hope not! Seriously, we should always observe considera-tion for others, even in line for Confession. Whenever it is necessary to leave the line, please make sure you have identified such an intention to another who can hold your place. If that option is not available, it may be necessary to leave as needed and then return to the end of the line. This is a hassle, but it beats irritating someone in line for Confession, whose patience may already be tried by other things, like wait-ing for the others to finish their Confessions! St. Philip the Apostle – pray for us!

Your servant in Christ, Fr. Donahue
