Dearly beloved of Christ Jesus,
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
As I write this musing, you all need to know that it is day four of
rain and our roof is not leaking. In fact it is an efficient roof in that it breaks
up the torrent that comes off our steep inclines so it is not a huge wave of
water hitting the flat roof. (Just thought you all would like to know.)
As I said yesterday in my sermon, we have a truly wonderful
parish. We are committed to ministry and mission, having over 40
ministries or groups actively seeking to do God’s will. How many parishes
can say that? Our buildings are in constant use, once again, we have between
35 and 40 events or meetings a week here. So, we are being asked to
financially support all that goes on here. Money moves ministry forward or
another way to put it, “funds fuel ministry”. We are focused upon spiritual matters and should be
focused on the things of God’s Kingdom. That is true. But we are heavenly minded in a material world.
Both need to be addressed. Therefore, we truly need every member to be involved in the support of our
ministries and the buildings that allow these to take place.
I want to thank all of those who have prayerfully pledged for the coming year. If you have not
done so as yet, I encourage you to pray. Seek God’s voice. Respond to His voice in your pledge to the
ministry and mission of this wonderful parish. God does not need our tithe. We need to be tithers,
showing our gratitude to Him for His many blessings to each of us. By tithing, God works in our hearts
and minds to see His will and His love for us. This is called the “Tithing Principle”. It is a spiritual
principle that God has set up in His people, stated in Malachi 3:10-12. The test is to prove God in his
promise of blessings. It is the only place in the scriptures in which we are told to test God.
We want God’s blessing upon our Church Family and in our lives. Thank you all for being part
of this blessing in a tangible way.
YBIC Paul

From the Senior Warden… To all the members of St. Paul’s parish: Look around at all the good things going on
and all the improvements made to our building and church property. It is wonderful
what the Lord has given us and we need to protect it in every way we can. We are
now on a mission to complete our Youth Building, and after having bought the
property, we are well on our way. Part of the problem now is going to be removal of
three oak trees, all of which is directly in our electrical lines and will cause outages if
we suffer an ice storm this winter. We are preparing to have removed, by SWEPCO
at no cost, two trees that can cause severe problems. One is by the dumpster and the
other at the North West corner of the old Masonic Building. Please assist us in this
matter by being careful during these removals. They are scheduled to be removed on
November 23rd. Thank you for your cooperation.

Capital St. SE in Washington, DC. “The Vigil Celebration is an opportunity for all to be with Bishop Curry and to pray with him,” the Rev. Canon Sandye Wilson, UBE representative and preacher at the service has stated. “The model is similar to the vigil that Archbishop Justin Welby conducted prior to his installment in Canterbury. ” Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori will preside at the Eucharist and Presiding Bishop-Elect Curry will celebrate. There is no charge to attend and tickets are not necessary; however registration is requested to provide for ample programs, seats, etc. Ticket applications for the October 31 event are available here.
