Regarding our faith, a good YouTube video to view is: Bishop Barron on What Faith Is and What Faith Isn’t. He reminds us that Pope Benedict had led us in the Year of Faith 2012/2013. It’s good to think these things over. If you don’t know how to use YouTube, ask one of your children or grandchildren, etc., to watch it with you – and discuss it!

Thank you to all who helped us to celebrate our Easter liturgies: people in the congregation, those who cleaned the churches, all our various liturgical ministers, our choirs and Music Director, Religious Women, Sister Joan and Deacon Larry. Special thanks to Fritzie Schlueter who acted as emcee for the Easter Vigil. Fritzie is a third year college seminarian at the Pontifical College Josephinum and was home for the Easter break.

Congratulations to those who receive First Holy Communion this weekend. Congratulations to all those who entered the Church at the Easter Vigil: Michael Moore, Billie Votaw, Fredda Work, Dave Fitch and John Mancuso. They now participate with us in the full participation of the Mass.

    With love and prayers,

    Father Bob Edwards

Father Bob’s Corner . Dear Friends,

They devoted themselves To the teaching of the apostles

And the communal life, To the breaking of the bread And to the prayers. -- Acts 2:42

We celebrate, in our Masses this weekend, the Octave of Easter. Recently we have come to know this Sunday as the Sunday of Divine Mercy. Easter, the Sunday and as part of the Triduum, is the greatest feast of our faith. We also celebrate it for 50 days – through Pentecost. In our first reading this Sunday, from Acts of the Apostles, we see a summary of the practices of the faith of the first Jewish Christians – those who believed the preaching of the apostles on Pentecost. We might see in these activities the working of Divine Mercy in the Church. We can ask ourselves if we have made these practices part of our lives. Do we …

…study the Bible and the teaching of the Church?... ….Pope Francis and our Bishops?

…participate in Parish Life? …attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation? …pray everyday? Morning? Evening/Night?

    Encountering Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration

    2017 Measure Up Campaign

Knights of Columbus, Council 1818 will be holding their 2017 “MEASURE UP CAMPAIGN” on Saturday & Sunday, April 29th & 30th. A Knight will be at each of the church doors after Mass.

COLLECTING DIAPERS The Diaper Bank at Making Kids Count exists to fill an unmet critical need for diapers among the most vulnerable in our community. None of the “safety net” programs pay for or provide diapers, not WIC, Food Stamps or Medicare, leaving those with the fewest resources even fewer options. Making Kids Count distributes over 10,000 diapers a month to partner agencies, one of which is Centro San Pablo. PLEASE HELP by making a donation of disposable diapers. Collection boxes will be available at the front entrance of the church during the first three weeks of May. (If you would rather make a financial contribution, you can drop that off at the parish office during the same time period.)

On the Second Sunday of Easter of the Jubilee Year 2000, at the Mass for the canonization of St. Faustina Kowalska, Pope John Paul II proclaimed to the world that “from now on throughout the Church this Sunday will be called Divine Mercy Sunday.”

Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun, reported visions and visitations from Jesus and conversations with Him. He asked her to paint the vision of His Merciful Divinity being poured from His sacred heart.

Beginning on February 22, 1931, until her death in 1938, Saint Faustina received revelations and visits from Christ. In 1934, she began recording these in a diary, Divine Mercy in My Soul.

According to St. Faustina’s Diary, Jesus Christ made a special promise, which she was to communicate to the whole world (Diary, 699):

“My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and

shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy.”
